an update on my scarifier tips....

I received an unsolicited email from Brandon, the Internet manager, at Corriher Implement. He let me know that my box blade had hardened tips (good for regular soil), but they were going to send me another set of tips better suited for our rocky soil. He even suggested that I call the owner for the proper way to install the new tips.

I must say that it has been a while since I did business with a company that actually values customer satisfaction and work hard at it. I will definitely be spending more money with them. My expectations have been exceeded with every contact with them!

Tell us more about these "tips better suited to rocky soil"!

If I need to replace mine somewhere down the road I suspect it would make sense to go with these. Are they from Midwest or an after market from your dealer?

This is interesting. I have the 30-72, and a lot of rocks (Rockbridge County). Haven't noticed any problems with the tips, but I'll look carefully next time I'm out. If it's a flaw, I'll bet dollars to donuts Jim Mc will fix it.

Well, the box blade has arrived and the paint is already scratched /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif....no not in transport, by me ripping up dirt /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif It's going to take a bit of practice to get the hang of it though !!

This unit is substantial. I can't say enough good about Corriher. I ordered Friday afternoon...They shipped Monday afternoon...Its on the tractor by noon Wednesday. That's from N. Carolina to Massachusetts !!!

Now for that hydarilic top link....hmmmm

Bob, can't answer your questions about the tips yet. And actually, I mis-spoke... the tips that came on the BB are cast and therefor very hard, not 'hardened' as I said. But once the new ones arrive, I will chat with the owner and find out more about them. Although Jim Mc may pop in with an answer before then.

You better call them and get them to fix it. The paint shouldn't have ever come off. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Just thought I would put in my 2 cents worth--I have sold many box blades for over 26 years for many different applications and cant remember tip breaking or shank bending as ever a issue??--Will be interesting to see the country of origin of the tips/shanks--Ken Sweet

My new blade is now one tooth short of a full set !! I tore one off when I hit a 'submeregd' rock. I DO know that the extraction was due to a slight turning force coupled with the impact with the rock. The teeth seem pretty good at taking head-on impact ( been there ... stopped the tractor !! ), but are not intended for side loading.

Any update on the new teeth ??

I have a bit of a retraction to make on my earlier posting in this thread.

It seems I must have got a misinformed employee when I called V&V about ordering a Midwest blade. I got an email from Ed Valkenburg and was told that they do indeed ship. Good to know one of the "V's" in V&V cared enough to resolve the confusion even though he knew I already had ordered elsewhere. These guys are back to the top of the list for me!

Jim
