I have an M18 hatchet that is a great one handed saw for limbing or even dropping small diameter trees. It lives in my UTV because it's so handy. I especially like it when I'm feeding my wood chipper and I need to back something out and trim a branch that's keeping it from feeding. I can't say that it's any better than another brand because I bought it simply because I already have a bunch of other M18 tools and batteries. Project Farm did a test on these small battery saws and I remember the Milwaukee coming out near or at the top but I think it's also more expensive than some that did pretty well.

If you have an M18 top handle saw you might want to check the serial number to see if it's part of the chain brake recall.

Seems for chainsaw brake may not work. On that recall notice.
Had that happen on a partner 5000 once. Good thing I got it stopped while coming back toward my head.
Heck I still own and run saws with no chain brakes.
The companies need to cover themselves.
Look at the fix they had for makita dolmar chain brakes sometime. I about laughed so hard it hurt to laugh more.
We have that recall posted in our chainsaw repair group.
A commercial user of one in a tree company = I got one of the Hatchet and the long one can’t remember the style but hauling these things around for well over a year now.
I’ve come to the realization of knowing production certainly slows down when my helper pick one of these up but he’s not gonna be cut in two either and another thing I could see being handy on four wheeler or side by side .
I once trimmed 5 big ole nasty box elder trees with the hatchet only way I could see it cutting someone is very slim.
