Good evening. I have been reading TBN for a couple of weeks now and thought I would share my story so far.
My grandpa always kept 3 John Deeres in the tractor shed but when he passed they all went to his oldest daughter. I've got tons of seat time in a 1020, brush hogging fields, putting in food plots, etc and some time on an 820 with a Woods belly mower. I've also spent a lot of time on my father in law's Massey CUT with loader.
Last year my FIL and I decided to raise some cattle on his 10 acres. We hooked up with a local farmer he knew and purchased a couple young black angus heifers, raised them to 1200lb on the hoof and had them slaughtered and divided amongst ourselves and any family members who pitched in.
Needless to say our first taste was a success, and we have been asked to manage what remains of the 80 acre farm of my wife's grandpa.
With all of the pasture we are now maintaining (recovering), I knew it was time to look for something that could handle the acreage better than the aging CUT we had.
That's where I met Larry, the original owner of an immaculate Ford 3600 with 1600 hours on the meter. I watched his tractor sit on CL with all the self control I could muster, waiting for him to lower his price closer to my budget.
