Backhoe Mounting Questions

I just bought a JD 46 used backhoe from a dealer. It was a Kubota dealer so he wasn't very helpful with instructions. I downloaded the manual from JD this morning, but the mounting instructions and pictures don't match my tractor. I have the brackets to mount to the loader bracket and that is very easy to understand. I have a 2320 with the 3-pt arms currently mounted. Are there other brackets or pins that I need to purchase to mount this to the back of my tractor?

Go to jdparts.com and take a look at this bracket that is for the 46 on a 4110 (am thinking the 2320 may be close because tractordata said it follows model 4110). Find it under the 2320 in 'attachments' under 46 hoe. Took some poking around, but this came up.

My understanding is that there are different mounting brackets for different tractors.

pmgeiss, beenthere has posted a good picture for you. There are 3 key things you need 1 the correct sub frame for the 2320, and 2 the heavy support bracket (part 15 in the previous picture), that will replace your current support bracket that came installed from the factory, and 3 the front hangers with pins.

The posters on here really helped me quite a bit, when I bought my used 46 backhoe to install on my JD 2520 last summer.

The 3ph hardware needs to be removed to install the 46 backhoe.
If you have all the parts and pieces it's not that bad to install.

Well a sad day at the local JD dealer! It is true that the 2320 has a shorter sub-frame and the cost is over $1,000. Good news is the bracket that attaches to the tractor comes with the sub-frame (or at least that is what I was told). So now the choices: sell the backhoe with the 2520/2720 sub-frame (it is the same for both tractors), buy a new sub-frame for my 2320 or upgrade to a bigger tractor to fit the backhoe...this is my obvious choice as we have been talking about buying bigger anyway, but don't know if the pocketbook can stand that pain right now.

Bottom Line: Do more research than I did if you are buying used attachments!
