I just wound up with a mule 610 today - its last year's (2006) model + has 40 hours on it - got it for $5500, in the camo color, with a windshield, a plow and a hitch. The warrenty is transferrable according to the dude I bought it from.

I've got a 4 acre pasture that will require some maint to trim down any weeds + keep the grass healthy if my two horses don't keep up with it.

Does anyone have any expiriance with those tow behind mowers that I've seen? Do you think I could go with a finish cut model, or should I stick with a rough cut model for mowing a field that will have divots from horse hooves + some decently steep slopes.

We used a pull behind mower to mow the trails at our deer lease. It worked out good but we had to adjust it to the highest setting to mow tall grass, then we would lower it down to get a better finish cut. It worked pretty good but is by no means comparable with a rotary cutter on a tractor. I would not want to mow 4 acres with one.

mocassincreekranch,

We mow our camps grass areas 5 or 6 times a summer, I would say its ~2-4 acres in all. We cut along the road frontage (3500? up our drive (900? and around our cabin. We have an older Brush hogg GT42(42? and tow it behind a 06 500 Foreman. It works well but requires a lot of upkeep to keep everything tight and operating. It takes me about 3-4 hours to get-r-done. I am normally mowing at 4-7 MPH. The only real draw back I have is the turning radius with the mower attached. We used to use a 2WD Rancher that handled better but lacked traction on some slopes. I would think the 610 would compound the turning issues I am seeing with our 500 Foreman. I got our mower cheap and have used it for 5 years. As long as youæ±*e not in a super hurry, can give it the upkeep thatç—´ needed and stay out of the rough stuff the tow behind mower should work well for you.

I use a tow behind with my ATV to mow slopes and get in between trees and such on my property. There are different levels of quality($$$) in the tow behinds that are out there, as well as different sizes. I have an ACREASE 60" rough cut HD tow behind with a 20hp Kohler. I have cut 6ft tall weeds and thick grass with it and it never even stutters. It is a tank though weighing almost 600lbs and takes a little getting used to.

My son jack-knifed the rig on a slope one time as he had lost traction going up a hill, and ended up rolling the ATV over, but the mower never flipped. It did shear the tow hitch off the Grizzley though. My son was shaken but not stirred, thank goodness.

If you don't have enough power to pull this one, go with a smaller unit.
