MX5100 box blade

Simple question. Should I get a 6ft or 7ft box blade for the MX5100? It's got R4 tires that are filled and it's got a loader. Just wondering if 7ft. will be too heavy to pull.

I've got the rear track at about 6ft.

I have a 6' United Deluxe HD Box Blade on my MX5100 and it seems to be exactly what works for me best. In my case maneuvering around trees etc would be more difficult if it were extending out past the rear wheels. The rear wheels are currently all the way out for better stability on hilly spots and the 6 footer does the job.

I'm leaning towards 6 ft. I just don't want to be stuck with a blade that is too big for the tractor to handle when it's full. I've got the power, just not the weight. I've got 400ft of my own driveway to maintain, several ditches to work up and about 1/4 acre to grade for a lawn. Beyond that it see regular driveway work and the occasional yard work.

Btw....I'm looking at the Deluxe United box blades.

I went with a 76" for my 5040 so I could be just wider than the tires, but I think the 5100 is about 3 inches narrower. The 72" would probably work the best overall.

I use a 7' on my L5030 and have no problem with power or traction.

If you work in close woods, you might want to go with a 6'.

i have a mx5100 and a 6' box and wish i would have gone with the 7'. Ive pulled wet clay where it was so full that i was pulling the clay up over the tires and it was still pulling hard. If i had it to do over again i'd buy the 7'

My son and I cleaned out a pond and contoured a firing range this fall using the L5030 and M8540 and that is what I was doing with the L5030. The BB would completely fill up the box and push dirt into my rear tires. I would back over it and pick the dirt up with the FEL and put the BB down again to pull more stuff. I was surprised at how much material I was able to move.

I have a MX4700 which is same size slightly less hp and it pulls dirt overflowing a 6' boxblade I use it to grade almost every day as it is my livelihood. The 6' is handy in tight areas as it tracks close to width of tractor. I am sure your MX5100 will pull a 7' blade with no problem it just depends on how many tight areas you will be working
