the worst experience i have ever had with any dealer was with a cub dealer in jackson TN. i had been negotiating very hard for a few days with him. we finally made the deal, signed the papers and loaded the tractor. on my way home, with one of his employees following with the tractor, the dealer calls me on my cell. he says, "you are going to have to write me a check for $700 or i am going to turn my employee around with the tractor". i told him i had a legal document with his signature saying the deal was done. he said he sold it too cheap and couldnt let it go. i told him he was fortunate to be dealing with someone who wasnt the type of person to take advantage of his error, and said turn your guy around. he called a few hours later apologizing, and said he knew he was wrong. in order to make things right, he would sell me the 3200 i originally wanted at his cost. i thought that would be great, and since i had to go to ATL for business, i sent my wife down on monday to do the deal. she calls me monday, literally in tears, saying he had changed his mind and couldnt do the deal. i told her to go home and we ended up getting the 3200 with 54" deck from the dealer in my hometown. bottom line is this guy was just nuts and committed to a deal he could not do, then decided he was not going to do the second "make things right" deal. needless to say, i let people know my opinion of this guy when asked. still makes me mad thinking about it.

there was a post on another forum asking about peoples experience with dealers and i thought it would be interesting to hear others stories and get opinions from you guys as to what you would have done in this situation.

There are good and bad folks in every business. Before I bought my first Kubota in '95, I priced them at 4 different dealers. The closest dealer also sold some other brands, and at one point offered to sell me the tractor at his cost (he was trying to get me to come down on a motorhome I had and he wanted). However, his 'cost" was higher than any of the other 3 dealers, and without telling him what the other dealers' prices were, I did tell him that another dealer had priced it lower. Then he became furious to the point of screaming at me that I hadn't told him I'd shopped elsewhere. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif I don't think he was playing with a full deck, and needless to say, I never did any business with him.

I don't follow this?! /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif You purchased a 3K series CC, had an invoice/receipt in your hand, were on your way home with it and the dealer MADE the delivery guy bring it back claiming no sale/deal? You are a patient guy. There would have been one heck of an altercation had that been me.

Well I have to say the dealer I had (now granted the deal is not done yet) has been in my favor. The SLT 1554 I bought can't make it up slopes pulling anything and barely makes it on its own.
He is going to take the tractor back with CC's approval at the price I bought it at. So I can buy the 2554 model with the shaft drive. He ordered the tractor last Monday and I saw it on Friday. He said he just has to figure out with CC how to do the paper work to finish the deal.

it wasnt a 3k series machine, they did not stock those. but yes, i had signed paperwork indicating the deal was done. he called me on our way home, said he would need $700 more or he was turning his guy around. i know i could have done alot, but didnt really want to get into legal issues over it. the guy was just nuts.

Yep, you are too nice JMT1271. If dealer told me in that situation that he would be making the guy turn around, I'd have told him go right ahead, and I'll be making you show up to the courtroom. Beleive me, that guy would not have gone back.
