I just separated this modification to make it easier to find. It's buried in with my other stuff and no real way to find it if someone wants to copy the modification in the future. Like TripleR did on his tractors step.
So it's a copy and a 70 hr. update.
On my 3240 it's a long drop to the ground when getting out of the cab and I'm only going to get older. I always wanted to add another step like my tractors Big brother, the M series. I was going to order another step but why wait for one to come in, when I have two right now.
I took both steps off which are both the same right or left doesn't matter. I cut the first step off the step frame and cut it down 1 inch, welded it back on the mount before cutting the next step off the frame. This way I can have a pattern of the angle, to make it all the same at the factory angle.
Cutting it down 1 inch makes two steps look more evenly spaced and factory looking.
So it's now five inches lower then the original step and 13 inches off the ground (was 18 inches) but Oh so much more comfortable getting in and out. My subframe is 12 inches off the ground so the step is not the lowest thing hanging down.
Having the two steps, allows your body to end up in the same position, as it is when getting into the cab. As you step down, your able to turn your body with the extra step. Instead of just jumping off or trying to turn inside the cab on your way out.
I have to say after 70 hrs of use with this double step installed, this step makes a big difference getting in and out of the cab, mostly getting out.
Just a little worn paint but holding up well.
I never bought a step for the other side and I'm not going to, No need for one.
These are before paint and before some final fining touches.
This is with paint after 70hrs of use with this double step. Kubota factory spray can paint is pretty tough. Just takes forever to dry.
