My new farm truck

I have a 1990 k3500 srw 4x4 with 454 and 3 speed auto I.m getting about 7 mpg just small trips through the mountains and hills of east TN

I had a 96 or 97 GMC 3500 454 and it never got very good mpg. It was a company issued truck and had a snow plow so I didn't really care but it was well below 10 mpg.
