Kubota L48 w/sims steel cab
Just took delivery of my first brand spankin new mini ex.

I will post some pics soon.

This excavator is one nice machine. It works very hard and has feather touch low pressure controls. I also got heat/ac and the float angle blade.

I will try to get some pics of the whole bunch this evening.:D

Nice!!! I have L48 as well and a KX-121 and I think you will enjoy having both at the job site and how productive the pair can be. I wanted the KX161 but could not afford the price increase and I need to stay below 10,000 lbs. The KX excavators sure do dig. I was questioning whether I could keep mine busy when I bought it, and now I cannot live without it. It adds soooo much capability that a tractor, even a L48, cannot do. The blade is great for leveling and backfilling and having tracks allows you to work in mud and on hills. Congratulations. p.s. How much?

Yes the excavator is a very nice addition to the family. I paid 53,450 and it also came with a 12" bucket and a 24" bucket. I also did not say but it has a thumb as well from the factory.

I have not used it for a job yet but that will come next week!!:D

Hey! This is a tractor forum, not an excavator forum!

Alright, I'm just really jealous. I REALLY want an excavator. Can you tilt the front blade, or is it only 2-way?

Curious - how fast is the excavator's swings compared to your tractor's backhoe? I have a Woods 9000, which is probably similar in speed to your tractor's 'hoe. I was having my septic done this past fall, and the installer let me do a little digging in the new leachfield hole with his Cat 307 excavator (kinda like Tom Sawyer). That thing was really fast - he even had it running lowish RPMs, and that bucket was flying. I wish my backhoe would move like that.

I believe the L48 hoe, the BH 1100, is about the same speed as the KX models excavator arm in terms of moving speed. Keep in mind that the L48 hoe offers simultaneous operation like an excavator with multiple functions while the BH90 and the Woods 9000 are 1 operation at a time only. The L48 has significant hyd. flow at 28 gpm while L series tractors offer about 14gpm, which makes all the difference when powering hoes. Also, the L48 has dedicated pumps for boom swing as not to rob other functions of power. Just got back from the dealer......$400+ to change fluids on L48. Just parts.

Ouch! Do you got to MB tractor? If so, do they treat you ok? I ckecked them out online when I was looking for an L48. They had a Deere 110 that looked like a real good price but I ended up staying orange and local.

I had a wood 9000 before and the L48 bachoe is way faster and stronger. I've run some mine excavators from Bobcat and it's about as fast I guess. Can't wait till I can justify one of those. I like the idea of that 121.

And this is a Kubota Forum, not a Komatsu, but here I go.

I have an L39 weighted out to +8100 lbs. The L39 has a very well matched strong hoe for the weight of the machine. I just bought a used Komatsu PC75UU-2E, an 18,000 Lb Excavator, which spec similar to the Cat 307.

It has about 4' or 5' more reach than the L39. You can position the excavator much easier than a TLB. The ability to swing 360 degrees is a real plus.

The L39 is reasonably fast and smooth. The excavator is much faster, especially the swing. The excavator controls are very smooth, even considering I am not an expert and there is wear and play in the pivots.

My excavator's swing torque is useless when it comes to pushing material around. The L39 pound for pound has more dipper crowd force and swing torque. My excavator seems to have a strong boom and ok bucket curl. It is tipsy and I could easily dump it over lifting a rock not much bigger than my L39 could handle if I am lifting to the side. The L39 Hoe continues to amaze me, but its ability to move a quantity of dirt in a quantity of time compared to a similar weight KX-121 is much longer with the TLB. If production digging is what you need to do, the excavator is the way to go.

The Komatsu is supposely all fixed, ($$$$ ouch!), so I'll give a full report once I get a full weekends work out of it.

That engine compartment is really nicely laid out.

Bet the cab is roomier than my Komatsu too.
