Well with the new digital camera I got MGI Photosuite (looking to get Photoshop later on) and I was able to cut back on the extra white so I can post the architects drawings of my house.

Thanks for all the information Paul. We too are in the process of considering plans for a house. While we haven't yet picked a plan, I can already see some conflicts as I want small and my wife wants big. I like 1800 sq. ft. and she is more in the 3000 sq. ft. I've looked at many sites for packaged plans and have now added the one you supplied. Thanks.

I am a contractor here in California but did build a couple of homes back in Maine near Camden. Best wishes in the construction of your home. I have a book from an author out of Utah that shows a lot of great ways to help control and cut costs. For me that will be huge as the "fees" or as they really are "taxes" on new construction are a big deal here. That cuts into building money. Your figure for building seems right in line with costs out here. I've done homes for less, but they also looked it. One addition we did cost several thousand per sq. ft. so that should make us all feel better.

Thanks. It is allot of work. The land, site work (driveway, site clearing, septic and trenches for pwr lines) and the house sure gets expensive fast. Unfortunately for us we are delayed again for a few weeks. The appraisal came in low. Just not enough comps in my area to compare with. But the appraisal was so low we had to seek out a new bank. They found a comp that should do the ticket and get us moving again.

The bad part is we have to go bi-weekly, but we went upa qtr pt in the rate. But all is not lost. The appraiser will be done Tuesday, bank gets the paper Wednesday and we hear on Friday. Our credit is good, our money is good and we have no debt. Just a stupid appraisal.

That is the one thing I was affraid of. Hundreds of man hours into for me and someone says, too bad we can't appraise it for what its costing. Like they had to tell me victorians are expensive to build.

I will try and see if I have a floor plan that I can attach. If all goes well we will be off and running in about two weeks or so.
