My winter Project: Kubota B8200 resto

... We went to the dealer, but some parts are not available anymore in Canada or they are very expensive. So I might try further south...

Try Messicks on line - located in Pensylvania. Great parts web site - not sure how much is available for old machines like yours.

I'm doing a makeover on a B21 & use their site to budget parts costs. Some of their parts are much less than in Canada (less than half) but some are the same price. It is easy to check on line. If you buy from them you need a large enough order to make the parts savings offset the shipping & trans border costs. I recently placed a small order with a local dealer for that reason.

I've got an '86 or '87 B8200 gear tractor, bought used with 500 hours about ten years ago... delivered just after a blizzard that taught me how to use it (my first/only real tractor) and the loader, to remove 750' of 3' snow in order to clear our lane and get it "home". It also taught me I needed power steering, and I got lucky and found a Kubota USA aftermarket old new stock PS kit ($700 from a dealer via Ebay) that would have been an easy install except that the Bush Hog loader bracket was in the way, so I had to cut and reinforce that. It plumbed into the hydraulic block, no problem, and doesn't interfere with the other hydraulics, really. I could send pictures of my tractor if you need help in figuring out how to put it all back together. Since Kubota sourced the PS kit here in the US, with only brackets etc. made for the particular tractor, I would think any good fabricators could do the same.

For my needs, it's a great little machine.

Did some more sanding and cleaning.

It's a slow process, but we're getting there.

Good luck, great project!

That was my first tractor back in '86. I picked it up in Montpelier VT on a flat bed truck (no tilt) and when I got it home I had to 'back into' a hillside to unload it. It had a Woods bh on it - what a great toy (under 20hp).

I sold it around 92-93 and the buyer still has it. He is an electrician and if he has 250 hours on it I'd be amazed.

Here's a little update on the restoration of the old b8200.

We are still at it. As always, it turns out to be a lot more work then anticipated. It's coming, but it is a slow process.
We haven't been too lucky with finding parts, the plastic grill being the biggest problem. I will make some sort of plate to cover up the missing part.

I will let the pictures speak for themselves.

Looking good! When I replaced the plastic grill on my old B8200, I got it from Carver Equip In Dunn NC. The owner, Steve, was great about finding stuff like that.

We are still working on the B82000 and it is looking good. The tractor is basically finished. A few small things to do like a good test run and changing fluids etc but nothing major.
Next on the agenda is the loader. It is painted and ready to be put together again. We will clear coat it (like we did with the tractor) for extra protection.

Looks nice! One thing I did with my B8200, is turn the muffler to face the front. I found I got less fumes in the drivers seat. And, I did not snag it on branches ect. I just un-bolted it and rotated the whole thing. Then I trimmed down the pip so it was 6-8" long.

Nice job Delta,
I used to work at a place that had one just like that.Man,the guys that ran that thing really hammered it,but it still kept going...never broke.
They must be a good machine.Actually,i wish the new Kubotas had this sort of styling, sort of squared off and boxy.I myself prefer that much more than the new rounded look.Anyway...... nice job.
