I crossed the Kubota Hydraulic filter number to a Wix number and bought the filter locally. It was to save me a trip/shipping/$$$s.

The filter will not accept the magnet. I put the magnet into the filter on blind faith and when I screwed it on, it broke the magnet.
I 'THEN' looked at the fitment of the magnet in the filter and it does not sit down in the filter properly because of a crimp ring in the filter. I used the filterr without the magnet because I was down but now I will replace it with a Kubota filter and a new magnet this weekend.
I wrote to Wix about this yesterday. I'm waiting for a response.
I just thought someone here might like to know about this.

over seas older tractors apparently do not publish "clean" specs. I had the same problem (hydraulic filter) with my 1985 Kubota. I had an "emergency purchase" at the local Kubota at 5x the price of any WIX I have ever used. Now that I know the thread size, the id/od of the seal, I will cross by dimensions, and feel very happy with myself.

I have only purchased Kubota filters partly due to the cross reference issue but a none Kubota parts store thought the price I was paying was reasonable. I have been told the parts price can vary between Kubota dealerships by a good bit. Had a friend tell how excess price on a filter by a Kubota dealership to a person they did not realize had major local connections cost them a sale of several units. Seems fair, you cheat me, I don't buy from you. kt

Its funny you say this about Wix filters. I had a similar problem with Wix filters when I had a GM diesel truck with a Allison Tranny. It had a spin on filter for the tranny and magnet that caused problems.

I have since went back to Fram and Quakerstate filters.

I didn't get an email reply to my problem from Wix but I did get a phone call yesterday.

The guy I spoke to said, ( and I hope I get all this right) said that Wix didn't support the magnet thing, feeling that it was unnecessary. When I told him that the Kubota filter came with a new magnet with every hydraulic filter, one would assume that they (Kubota) thought it was necessary. I felt like if Wix wanted to sell replacement filters then they would make their filters compatible with the magnet.
He said that their filters met or exceeded all manufactures specs but he would relay my concerns to WIX.
He did specifically mention the allison transmission issue.
I have no concerns using the WIX without a magnet and it is still in place right now, but I want a magnet in it so I bought a new Kubota filter.
I've now found a dealer that will match the price of the Wix on Kubota filters so it's a no brainer for me now.

Even though I won't be using Wix now, I have no further issue with their products and I greatly appreciated the phone call.
