I own a JD 650 I have had since new in 1982. Runs well, but parts are getting difficult to find with Deere John telling me my baby is obsolete. Maybe I am obsolete too. Any way, I think Yanmar marketed a twin to the JD version. If so, which model? Any great source for parts?

Yanmar Tractor Parts: JD650

I don't think the 2t80 engine used in the 650 is used in the Yanmars. Any particular parts in mind?

On a few rare results, the YM2210 and YM2210D used the 2T80 early in production. The YM2210B and YM2210BD used the 2T90.
The 2T80UJ is the actual engine for the JD650. My neighbor has a JD650 too.

Have your tried a few Yanmar gray suppliers?
Hoye has parts for the JD650 here ... Yanmar Tractor Parts: JD650

Weavers' CT has both JD and Yanmar engine rebuild kits and other parts too.

One of the small KOMATSU PC 02-1 machines uses a Yanmar 2T80L diesel engine.

In a few of my 2T80 searches, parts do cross-reference over to another Yanmar engine, the 2TN66E. Not sure what the connection is there.

It's unknown to me if any of the YMXXX (three digit), F or FX Yanmars had a 2T80.

I don't see how the engines cound be close the the same. The John Deere 650 is 14.5pto hp, the Yanmar YM2210 is 22pto hp. The BOM I have on the 2210B plainly shows 2t90. Where do you find it ever used the 2t80?

Knocking on wood here, the engine is fine. I sure could use a new seat frame. Mine has broken, been welded and braced and broken again and rebraced. Combination of very steep mowing fields and large arsed driver. I could use a new radiator as long ago a repair shop "fixed" mine by pinching off a tube. It will over heat when worked hard in hot weather (dummy light comes on), but I am using Evans NPG+ in it to assure that the heads are not boiling the coolant to steam. I just have to stop and let it idle at about 1200 RPM for a few minutes to cool and also pull the radiator screen. Mine has the wide tires and they are well worn, would be nice to have a set of new ones, probably ain't gonna happen. All four of mine are ballasted with ethylene glycol and water. Its the most stable tractor I have ever found, have yet to see another so stable.

Comment on seats - Hoye and I think Fredricks sell a similar seat at half the cost of that Ebay one. Quality for theirs seems similar but it was my experience that it crowds me too close to the steering wheel and makes the tractor feel tiny and cramped. I need to duck to go under orchard trees and there's no room to do so.

I have an original Yanmar seat pan (no cushioning left) on the last Yanmar I bought. This is far more spacious and simply looks a lot bigger. I have a cushion intended for a kitchen chair in it, this fits fine.

And I'm not very tall, probably about the size that the Japanese seats were designed for. I don't see how anyone bigger could be comfortable in that common replacement seat. I suspect it is the cause of people saying the reconditioned Yanmars are too cramped for them.

My advice: spend a little more and buy a replacement seat that's spacious and comfortable like the one Winston referenced.

Winston, thanks a bunch. I replied earlier and my response seems to have not registered. I need the bracket, I have a really nice cushy seat made for commercial use, the original pan cracked over 30 years ago. I'm 6'-3" and 250+ so the oriental ergonomics did not fit as well.

That site says they have several such radiators, beats e-bay all to Hyades and back. I will get my parts book and see what else may turn-up. Its a fine machine even if long in the tooth.

You are probably familiar with the on line John Deere parts source. According to that there are a couple of options and following the part numbers to a dealer then states call us. I wouldn't doubt the bracket is out there to be had, probably expensive. Just looking at it one would think it could be repaired or fabbed from scratch.

I've been looking for my source since last night. I save too many things on the computer that finding it again can be a pain.
As for the Hp being different, I too look at the 3T80 in the JD850, YM2500 and YM2610. One would think that the Hp would be equal across all three. It isn't.

In a historical posting going back a few years, user California was in a discussion about Yanmar engine model names. It's possible that a 2T80 is a 2-cly with 80mm diameter pistons. My 3T80 in the YM2610 would then be 3-cly with 80mm diameter pistons. Would the pistons be the same? Not sure myself without a JD650 cross-reference p/n to the Yanmar numbers.
