Need Free Info on Cub 2185

Hi all ! I recently acquired a Cub 2185, and need a little info on it. It has about 500 some-odd hours on the clock. I've been going through it repairing or replacing whats worn..... belt, deck wheels,blades, etc. Anyone got any thoughts on what this tractor might be worth? I'll post a pic or two..... its no show queen ! Broken headlight assembly, a little rust on the foot boards, dent in the side panel, and so on. From what i've read here..... it appears that this is a well made little tractor. What kind of hours might one expect to get out of one? I need advice on whether i should keep it mow the wheels off of it.... or sell it.

The "blue book" value of the 2185 w/ bagger varies from $ 944 to $1593 (depending on the year built) After viewing the photos, I would estimate its value to be closer to the $ 944 mark.......It's kinda rough.....

Ken, thanks. I'd say the 944 mark would be pushing it also. It IS a bit rough ! Came from a friend of mine who got tired of fixing the little things, so he bought a new Husky with a 54" deck. I guess i didn't do so terrible on it if i'm only into it for a few hundred then. I'm debating whether i'm going to go so far as to replace the headlight assembly and put new decals on it. Guess i'll figure that out as i go. I still need to weld a patch where the seat bolts to the body. A bit of rust has made the bolts tear through the sheetmetal. Mowing on a hilly area gets interesting, as the seat tilts slightly, causing to tractor to think there is no one in the seat.

I know this is a really dumb question, but what is the lever on the right fender used for? On my 2185 there's a cup holder in it's place.

The lever on the RH side is for the auto-gear shift selector on the gear drive models (ex: 2150). This has the 1-2-3-4-5-6 gear selection to it.

Hydrostatic drive tractors do not have/need this lever.

Looks like it just needs a little TLC. I would say go for it and fix it up. I am sure it has plenty of life in it yet!

OK..... i have a question. I'll ask even at risk of looking like an idiot. If i were looking to put a two stage snow blower on this tractor.... can anyone tell me what model snow blowers will fit? Would MTD made (non-OEM Cub) snow blowers fit this tractor?

Thanks for not beating up on me for asking this..... i've only had the tractor for a few days !

My suggestion would be to contact a Cub dealer or MTD. Dumb questions are the ones that you don't ask!

It is "Cruise Control" as on my 2135.
You push lever forward, and it mechanically keeps foot pedal down, so you do not have to push it with foot.

I know that new panels can be ordered and a paint job and you're in business. Tires look good from the pictures too.

They are great tractors. To answer the question on the snowthrower, you could probably get the new shaft drive snow thrower to work. The one that was available on that model was a belt driven model that chewed or tossed belts. They redesigned them and now they are belt to a driveshaft. 190-310?? maybe...
