Hi guys, been years since I've posted, hope all is well.
I'm now retired and working a couple days a week at a friend's golf course. My "assigned" machine is a 1993 Ford 2120 HSS that I pull a 11' rotary gang mower for cutting rough, 6' brush hog, or a 6' box blade for grading cart paths and driveways.
The F-N-R switch has loosened and wants to rotate within the bracket that I believe holds it place when moving the forward/reverse lever. See the pic attached. I came back to the shop in reverse a couple weeks ago. I'm looking for experience on this - my question is does the whole switch ($190) need to be replaced? It appears there may be a flat side that corresponds to a flat section in the hole in the bracket that keeps it from rotating and I'm thinking the plastic has worn over the years. I currently have it securely in place with a good zip-tie but not sure of the safety factor during operation.
Is there another keeper washer or a shim that could be used? The part comes with a locking plastic washer it appears, but would have to buy the entire switch for a $2 washer based on a conversation with a parts tech at Messick's. Seems like a weak link in an otherwise tough old tractor.
