It took full water flow but I'm on a well. Maybe I don't have much pressure. Idk. But the radiator is clearly plugged.

There could be the problem. I have 100 psi water pressure.

In my experience no amount of backflushing will dislodge that and off the shelf chemicals isn't the answer either. Before turning it over to the shop, check Amazon and Ebay for price of new radiators. Op mentioned well water, unless it has been tested, never use well water. For that matter 75% of public water has too much corrosive minerials for use in cooling system. If a system is leak tite, use distilled water with proper mix of anti-freeze. If you have a leaker, catch rainwater.

I doubt amazon or ebay would be cheaper. There close to $300 I think last time I looked. ANd wont be as good a quality as that old copper one. I would take it to a shop and have it done. I think back 15 years ago when I was around my father in laws auto shop the old place he used was $50 to 75. That may have been his price since he always used them and I know thiings cost more now but I cant see rodding out a radiator to be close to the new price or even 50% of new.

Thanks! I see now in the transmission diagram that there are pins on that gear.

It looks like it would be a nightmare to tear down the transmission far enough to replace that gear. I have a YM240 Flat Rate Book (labor hours allowed by Yanmar-USA for warranty work) out at the ranch. I'll get back over there in a couple of days and see how many hours that should take. Getting the fixed-mount loader off mine would be another few hours.

I recall Danny said the gear with pins has to be replaced and also the gear it meshes into. Is that your recollection of what Bruce described?

Yes, both gears. I agree with you, this would be a major tear down and avoided with bungee or whatever as long as possible.

Full water hose flow is but a drop in the bucket for what a clean radiator should flow.

You have a mere 5/8" garden hose.

How's that compare to the size of your radiator hoses?

yep a rodded out radiator will give many more years of service. its a lost art and not manyplaces anymore that do that stuff, esp in small towns.

I had mine done for $75, he even repainted it, looked like new
