First off, on this weekend, THANK YOU to all the men and women who have served in our military. It's because of them that we have the freedom to do what we do. Let's take time to remember the sacrifices of our bravest.

I need some info on a 2013 Ram 2500 4x4 with the diesel engine. What are some real world milage numbers, mainly 75% highway 25% in town, and how often do you have to add the DEF? Any opinions from owners? Thanks to all......

All depends on gears and stick or auto. My 2011 crew cab cummins has 4.11 gears and auto. I have 12-14 mpg no matter which way you slice it. Mostly 12mpg. 4.11a drink a lot of fuel on highway becuase the rims are so high doing 80-90

The one I'm looking at has the auto tranny with 3.42 rear end. LT265 - 17" tires.

I know this is a slightly different model with no scr but my dad has an 08 6 speed with 3.42 rear end and he averages about 14 in the winter and 16 in the summer. His driving is mostly 2 lane roads with a small amount of city and highway.

I forgot to mention he has about 55,000 miles and runs 35" tires. Hope this helps.

All SRW diesel '13 Ram trucks have 3.42 gears. You have to get a DRW truck to get 3.73 or 4.10 gears.

You may want to go to Cummins Forum. com (skip the spaces) and look under the 4th Gen section of 2013's there is a ton of info. You really can not compare the 12's and down to the new 13 due to the new DEF system. (well sort of but the 13 should do better) One of the big advantages of the DEF system is it helps with mileage (lack of frequent regenerations) so the older models will (or should) have slightly lower mileage. The rear end gear also has some effect on the mileage as well as the tires/styles and speed driven at. It seems the truck don't like that 75mph and over area for fuel economy. Then again it is shaped sort of like a brick....
I personally have a 2012 with the Cummins, 4x4, 373 rear, auto, club cab, 6' bed, with 34" aggressive Toyo AT tires - I get around 13-14 locally around West Virginia and 15ish on the highway here. I went to Pittsburgh last weekend and averaged about 13 coming back to southern WV- the bed was fully loaded and I had a trailer that was about 2500lbs behind me running about 70ish in the mountains coming home. I have had the truck for about 9 months and currently only have about 6500 miles on it so I am pretty far from being broken in so the fuel economy may get a bit better.
Good luck and having had several of the 4th gen trucks from work I can say they been a very good truck and I personally really like them.
