Howdy Y'all,
The new 3510 is wonderful except that it is too light in my type soil especially with the recent rains. I was going to put the EZ weights on, but the wheels for the Industrial tires are not punched for the adding of weights. I thought about making up a drawbar type rack to put the barbell weights on, but then with my new rear blade that would be a problem. Today I came up with a tool to add water to my tires. I was advised to put a gallon of antifreze in each tire, not so much to protect from freezing, but to add anti rust chemicals to the solution. We don't have extended freezing spells here in Central Texas and I have the 3510 in the attached garage. I was also advised to put water in the front tires. I figured that the FEL would give me enough weight up front. Comments????
I haven't used the rear blade but it looks heavy duty, much heavier than most that I've looked at. (Can't leave the blade on and put the tractor in the garage.)
I tried to photograph the WMD, but I took all the pics in a high resolution so they are to big to put here. More pics later that will fit here.
Thanks again to all that had comments on my previous posts. This site should be required reading for all tractor owners. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hi Bob, was looking forward to some pictures of the wmd. I haven't loaded my tires yet but have a BH that weighs a few pounds. Just waiting until I get more experience working with it to see how it does...so no help to you there. Don't hesitate to use that differential lock....I keep forgetting about it. Can get you out of a spin situation or mudhole. Is the grandchild still impressed with your work?

Pete.
I have used the diff. lock but when I was trying to pull small trees and stumps, all the tires spun and dug holes. Work for new blade?? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif These Industrial tires are 16" wide and they sure dig big holes. As soon as it quits raining and the weather warms up a bit I'm going to go the water route.
I had tractor out today to unload the blade and take the FEL bucket over to friends house and we welded some hooks and a very heavy U-Bolt to the edge of the bucket. He seemed to like the U-bolt better than the big hook in the middle. He also "blew" a hole in the center brace inside the bucket so I could use a clevis there if needed or wanted. As soon as I get the new hooks and U-bolt painted, I'll show that if anyone is interested. Too much rain coming down to take camera out today, maybe tomorrow.
Thanks for reply.

In soft soil, filled tires might just dig you in deeper! That being said, I've spun both sets of tires enough to know that filled tires will help me put some of the hp into what I want it to do, as opposed to digging to China! Simple physics--more weight=more traction=more transfer of hp to work

Depends on what your doing with your land. If your growing grass remember that filled tires will compact your soil. If your doing a lot of tilling type work than filled tires are ok. Not to many southerners I know feel the need to fill their tires cause it mostly dry in the summer and traction is not a problem.

I'm looking at a 3510. The dealer recommends putting windshield washer fluid in the tires if you get the FEL. He does this at no extra charge.

This is my first tractor and plan to do some landscaping work, but mostly grass cutting on 5 acres. I live in Kentucky.

Is the fluid in the tires a good idea??

Thanks,
Allen

That's what I put in mine, seemed like a good idea to me.

AllenJones,
I just added water to my rear tires, wow!, what a difference in pulling ability. I thought about putting the washer fluid in but I just added a gallon of regular anti-freeze to keep the rims from rusting. As I said before our weather is pretty mild here. I still spun my tires but not nearly as much. If I hadn't been so impatient and waited for a few more day, things would have dried out more and I probably wouldn't have spun at all. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I just put the rear blade on to do some hole filling, the ones that I dug, and that helped a bunch too. I just needed the smell of diesel and the fresh air so why wait???
If your dealer will do anything for free, let him do it. My dealer didn't even have the tools to put the water in, or at least that's what he said. I don't plan to drive my 3510 on the roads at any speed and I need the pulling power for these cedar stumps and trees.
I appreciate all the responses to this post. thanks to all.
Happy tractoring.

Bob, if you make a mess of the yard now...you will just get to play more later. By the way, is the size of the tractor ok for you? As for loaded tires, I have many yrs using them and they do add a ton of traction. Might not be an issue, depending on what you use your tractor for. Having said that though, the only watchout is the battle with corrosion. We had a rim rust out....but if I remember right, our old tractor yrs ago was loaded with a solution of calcium cloride to keep from freezing...but is very corrosive. I've not loaded my new Branson tires yet...just waiting to see how I do without.

Bob,

Do filled tires negatively affect on road driving? I will be doing this quite a bit.

I'm not planning on doing much heavy pulling or lifting, do you think filled tires might be overkill?

Thanks,
Allen
