Dealer tried and failed to fix it and doesn't seem to care. Any ideas?

IF, it's new, it would go back, even if I had to haul it to a different dealer!

Is the needle in the red overheating area? If not they would probably say close enough, instead of why. What were you doing to think it is overheating?

"Dealer tried and failed to fix it and doesn't seem to care."

More incompetent "experts" !!!

My 4600 stock temp gauge pegs to "overheat" within a couple minutes of starting from cold. I have figured that the instrument cluster would need to be replaced and haven't been willing to go on a $3-500 fishing expedition.

I am guessing the screen on the grill in front of your radiator is plugged with chaff, seeds, etc.. Try blowing it off with compressed air.
