new buyers Beware Craigs List ads, the scammers are out in force

CL is being hit today with at least a dozen ads in the farm and garden category for tractors at unbelievable low prices.

Example:

I don't think I've ever seen as many posted in one day.

Good grief. I just checked CL. I have never seen so many at one time either. I have flagged a couple over the last week. It seems they are trying to get enough adds out there to make people not want to take the time to flag them all. It won't deter me.

I have noticed the ads also. What is their motivation in trying to get people to respond?

To get unsuspecting people to send them money up front for equipment that will then allegedly be shipped to them after payment. That shipment never arrives.

Did not look at tractors this morning but same on boats in my area. Funny they used the same wording in some of the ads even with the spelling errors. All were about same price but with boats the number on the side gave away their state of register and do not think they knew that.

On tractors and such they have arrested at least two locals (have been told rather large group as each person had their own job of scouting or delivery or selling the machine) for stealing of tractors to construction equipment to Gators here and have been told many more in it and many machines stolen. That is the general Myrtle Beach SC area. They sold locally (dumb) and out of the area. One of the people arrested has been at this have been told for several years even while salesman for a tractor dealership. DO NOT THINK DEALERSHIP KNEW ABOUT IT

Well went back to Craigslist and they are a few here also. Funny same email address with some as on the boats..at least here most have female sounding names in the email address but all gmail addresses.

Yea I just saw and flagged at least a dozen of these scams on Craigslist this morning. Most often it seems like the adds are for vehicles and equipment that should easily be valued close to $20,000 but are listed for $2000 or so. I hate scams!
