Kubota announced a new BX2650 model late Friday available 4th quarter of 2007.
The new tractor has all of the features of the BX2350 but with two major and other enhancements:
  • Best-In-Class Horsepower: 25.5HP in a 3 cylinder 1001cc diesel.
Radiator size increased 20% over BX2350.
Overall weight increased only 68lbs; most incremental horspower will be usable.
  • Best-in-Class Operator Seating Comfort: New deluxe, high-back recling seat with retractable seat belts. This seat also has thigh support and padding.
I scanned a pic, but it is grainy.

How will that effect the BX24? What other enhancments? I'm about ready to pull the trigger on a JD2305 or JD2320. One of the reasons for the 2305 is I can get a factory hoe later, I don't have to buy now.

My understanding is that the BX24 will stay since the sales are so good. This is just a BX lineup addition.

The only changes are Horsepower/radiator and the seat, everything else including implements are the same as the BX2350.

??? Does anyone think the BX2200/2230/2350/23/24 is hurting for horsepower? Why make an adjustment like this (add 4 HP) without having an adjustment to SOMETHING that is useful to the user?

Some suggestions, if I may:
--Larger pump (more volume available for multi-function use of BH? Higher ground speed?)
--Higher capacity FEL?
--Longer wheelbase or wider stance? The BX could use more stability, not more power.

I guess it would be OK if they fitted it with a 72" wide MMM or something. But I guess the Tim Allen's of the world will pay what they're asking for "the biggest" without pondering how well the machine works with the "lesser" motor. Ask anyone with a BX1500 if THEY feel short on power (fully conceding the smaller chassis/wheels presents some limitations). I can tell you that I have power to spare. Never wanted more.

The ROPS looks shorter than on my BX24. Is this how all the BX's that don't come with a backhoe are, or did they shorten it for this model? I wish mine were about 3" shorter, since I've driven into my garage door frame twice in my 4.5 weeks of BX24 ownership. I figure I'll drive into it one more time before I remember for good.

Got a better one for ya... why is "Best in Class HP" braggin' rights anyway? Wouldn't "Best in Class Torque" be a more respectable achievement? Heck, maybe it has but we'll never know since Kubota doesn't publish torque figures . Which never fails to astonish me, since we're talking about Diesel engines after all. Torque is everything, HP is consequential. As long as the general public continues to blindly and ignorantly buy into HP figures (which as we know are ONE point on the curve, typically at some impractically-high rpm), we'll continue to see this kind of "HP Wars" driven marketing propaganda again & again, whether its wheel loaders or weed wackers.
Keep the meaningless discrete data points and show me real torque dyno graphs, and maybe HP curves if you got room on the printout... then maybe I can be impressed.
