Well I finally bit the bullet and I am know the proud owner of a new BX25, LP box scraper and LP rotary cutter. Man am I psyched! The little guy in the picture is my best buddy (son) and he just wants to know when we can dig some holes!

Anyway, like I have read in many other posts, the list of options and add ons seems to keep growing. One option I want to add fairly quickly is a skid plate - so I would like to hear what your opinions are on BXpanded vs Brotek?

Thanks ahead of time for your input!

Congratulations!! Looks sweet!

I have various add-ons from both and they both produce first rate quality stuff, and I highly recommend both companies. It looks like you have a rear mounted mower. Is that for finish mowing, or do you have (or will be adding) a mid mount (belly) mower?

The reason I ask is that the BXpanded is one single plate covering the entire underbelly. It needs to be removed to use a MMM. The Bro-Tek is two plates. The rear plate covering the HST fan can be left installed with a MMM. If you remove the mower you can add the front plate.

For my situation the two plate set-up works better as I normally have a MMM on and can still have the back part covered. But, depending on your usage, this may not be a factor.

I'm using the Bro-Tek plates, and so far they've kept me from _another_ disaster. Too soon old and too late smart...

The BXpanded plate looks good too, but I haven't seen it in action. I do have their bucket hooks and a tooth bar - yet to be installed. Both very nice products.

I can also report that both companies - Richard and Harry specifically - have been very responsive to information requests. I don't think you can go wrong with either.

I will add that Bro-Tek can actually provide _three_ plates, to pretty much fully protect the entire underbelly of that machine (on my BX 24, anyway - is the '25 identical underneath?). I don't have a MMM so those plates are permanently installed. It would be a little bit of a hassle to remove the front two on a regular basis.

I have the rear brotek skid plate and a home made front skid plate. Definetly needed.
You could make your own from peoples designs on this website!

Thanks for posting. I am interested in skid plates for my L4400 and will be watching this thread for info.

I have a BX25 with the Kubota skid plate covering just the rear. Would the Bro-Tek front skid plate fit with the Kubota plate left on?

I have the BXpanded Under armor plate. It is extremely easy to install and remove. It offers complete coverage for my needs. The "improved" Kubota HST fan guard does not interfere. It cannot be on when using the mid PTO.

No it won't. I had the Bro-Tek rear plate from my old BX1860 and moved it over to my BX25. I had to cut the small, OEM plate off with a grinder so the Bro-Tek one would fit. A little bit of work but a lot better protection.
