I upgraded from an L4760 Kubota to a new Case IH 55A cab and loader tractor. I had a Big Tex 14ET 20' trailer with the Mega Ramps and loved it, the ramps were awesome, however I was already pushing the length with the L4760 so I knew I'd need a longer trailer for the 55A.
I purchased a used Towmaster 12D equipment trailer which was 24', still a between the fender trailer. Loaded the tractor up and the length was fine but the tires on the tractor nearly touched both fenders when loaded (76" wide tractor, 82" fender width).
Sold that and figured a bumper pull deckover was the best solution, so I picked up a 96"x24' PJ F8 Deckover with flip over ramps. Length is good, width is good, however because of the deckover design and taller trailer, its much harder to get the weight distribution correct between the trailer and my 2020 F250. Axles are further back so I have to not really use the front 4-5' of deck space because of weight. Also due to the design of the ramps on this trailer, they have no "knee" to stop the back of the trailer from squatting down when loading a 9,000lb tractor and it lifts the back of my truck up.
So I'm at a loss really. I've had 3 trailers that all have their flaws, and I cant seem to find the best solution. The closest so far was the Towmaster 24' equipment trailer, but the width of the tractor between the fenders was an issue. That being said, when looking online at trailers I see many tractors of this size (utility AG) being hauled on between the fender trailers so it must be a solution.
I have to stay with bumper pull, gooseneck is not an option, my driveway is tight to get into and a gooseneck will not make the turn.
Any ideas?
