I may have overlooked it, but I think we should have a post for stolen equipment. Posts should be short with specific details only, pics, location, recovery, etc.

And, does anyone know of a backhoe that was recently stolen possibly around south-central Alabama? I see a backhoe that just seems out of place.
Barely visible like it's being hidden, and in a location that is know to be infested with sticky fingers.

Good idea, this is the way it works in the country. Good way to help our neighbors on TBN.

Yep, times are tough and people are desperate. It's likely to get worse, especially with the light-handed justice system. We just had three 55 gallon drums of copper stolen about 2 wks ago. The drums were aligned in a row and we parked the backhoe pulled up to them with the bucket rolled over the drums covering the tops. It was next to our shop under a lighted leanto. The thieves cut a "door" in the bottom of the drums, emptied them all, and toted the copper about 650 yds. to their vehicle.

Good idea. You never know when something might come up missing. At least this would be another way of getting the word out. I'm all for it.

Unfortunately...most North East thefts end up in containers bound to offshore locations...:(

How did the thieves know what was in the drums? Sounds like an inside job to me.

*May Be it's owner hid it from the sticky fingers that are in the infested location !

Still, it would be excellent to have a forum for that, wouldn't have much in it most of the time, with luck. But if you need it to get the word out or find something, you need speed. Ya get so pi$$ed when you're robbed!

If there was a backhoe sitting around without a job and an owner, I would be asking the sherrif to take a look-see at it.
Another forum would be nice, but one such as that would need to be in the top section to attract more attention. Adding it to the bottom would just slow it's usefullness.

I really have no idea how they knew. The drums were about 60' from the RR tracks, and across the tracks is a wooded area. They may have been lurking for a while. It's not the first time we got hit. My father is an electician and is always collecting scraps.

The backhoe is too close to sticky fingers to be hiding from them. I know the people next door to it are TROUBLE, and their homes almost touch. I did notify the Sheriff, but he had no local reports of a stolen backhoe. He admitted himself that these guys did not even have the money to rent a backhoe, so he was suspicous as well. Maybe I should stop by and see how much they charge per hour. Maybe NOT!
