On the way home from the farm yesterday I passed the local Case, Kubota dealer. While I didn't stop and only caught a glance as I went buy it looked like the Case/IH line of tractors had some much smaller units at the end of the row. They didn't look much larger than my neighbors Ck20.

Maybe they have been in the CUT business for a long time, but this is the first time I've seen any of them.

I've seen them for a few years here, but the sold so few at our dealer that they stopped selling them and just kept the large ones.

On that note, who makes the Cub Cadet SCUTS? I stopped and looked at them last week after buying my BX2660. In my opinion, they are an engineering piece of junk. I don't know how they are priced, but after seeing some of the quality, I'll keep my Kubota... even if it's TWICE the price.

Yanmar makes the tractor, or just the engine?

I'm pretty sure they make the whole thing. The EX2900/EX3200 is actually the same basic chassis that has been the John Deere 770/790/3005 for the past number of years. Yanmar added an HST transmission and I think some other refinements, though. If you look at some pictures of the 2900/3200 you can even see where the gears used to go from the 770/790/3005.

The SCUT's and CUT's are actually dual badged now as "Cub Cadet Yanmar". I thought it was a good move for Cub Cadet, but after reading your review I'm not so sure anymore.

I think you guys may be confusing the Cub Cadet tractors (yellow and cream color) with the Yanmar / Cub Cadet tractors (yellow and black)......which are two totally different products.....at least IMHO.

The Yanmar / CC products include the EX2900 and EX3200 (as well as other models which I cannot remember the model numbers) which I think are pretty good products and compare with the John Deere 3208e. These are being finished (assembled?) in GA by a new company formed between Cub and Yanmar according to what I have read. It remains to be seen how the Cub Cadet marketing will do with this Yanmar association.....at least IMO.

I think these are a far cry from "junk" as posted earlier. :)

This thread has me intrigued, so I'm learning whatever I can from their website. It appears you're right about the cream being Cub Cadet and the black being Yanmar. But, the largest cream colored is a garden tractor. Even their smallest SCUT's (SC series) are Yanmar badged.

I looked at the Cub CUT and was ready to buy one before experiencing their customer service. Looked further and bought a BX. I didn't care for the design either, like the JD CUT at the time, the machine appeared to be reverse engineered to handle the BH and FEL..Didn't trust that.

I had a Cub garden tractor that blew up at 50 hours. Got it through an estate, so I wasn't the original buyer. I called Cub/MTD and they refused to do anything about it. The motor generated so much oil pressure that it blew the oil filter off. Cub told me my argument was with Briggs. I told them: you put that motor in it I didn't..No dice. Called Briggs, it was a known problem at the time, in fact the parts guy laughed about it.."You got one of them exploding Briggs". Still no help. Even had the Cub dealer (the one where I was ready to by the CUT) call. No help. If this is what you can expect from them, why would you drop 15K on another one of their machines?

The JD's look better now, NH, MF's are nice too. I'm partial to my BX now, even though I grew up with JD's.
