Hello everyone. Just upgraded from a 1997 Husky lawn mower to a 2011 Massey Ferguson GC2600. It only had 144 hours when we got it, so nearly brand new! We've put about 13 hours on it in the 2 weeks we've had it now, and I'm sure we'll put on far more than the original owners did in the time they owned it.
Feels like it was fate! I know we've been looking for one of these CUT's for a couple years now, but the stars (and finances) never aligned. This year we re-fi'd the house with a better bank, shaved $200 off the mortgage payments, and were able to get a home equity line of credit to cover the tractor so I pulled the trigger! Local NH dealer was willing to drop the price of the tractor and throw in a 54" gear drive tiller at cost to get it down to my set budget before taxes. (HELOC was $18,400, told the dealer my limit was $14k. They took the tractor down from $13.9, and offered the tractor, loader, mower, tiller for $14k plus tax.) Looking back I remember the Massey dealer 2 years ago telling me how the model numbers changed for 2012, and that he had a couple of the 2011's on the lot still. Same tractor, different numbers. This particular tractor came from that dealer per the key chain, and had the 50 hr break in maintenance recorded done on 5/12/12, which puts it not long after we were there. That dealer is a little over 30 miles from my house so we never go there. By comparison I can drive past the NH one on my way home. Every. Day. So it occurs to me that the tractor sitting in my driveway now by way of previous owner and a dealer I pass daily, 2 years later, could be one of the ones we sat on, pushed buttons, and drooled over! Like I said, fate, right?
Wife just rolled her eyes about me wanting a tractor since we only have an acre of land, but she was amazed at how much easier and faster it is to mow the lawn with the Massey! The 60" deck dose a better and fast job than the 48" husky, and doesn't scalp the lawn. Now she just kind of shakes her head at the things I do with it. Welding grab hooks on it a week after buying it, lifting floor joists in the barn to brace up a sagging floor, building forks out of 4x4's to lift the flagstone off the steps I wanted to tear down, lifting a goat shelter made from pallets with the loader and now I'm working on a carry all.
