After years of hand jacking square bales from the trailer into horse stalls for storage, I bought a hay grapple to unload the trailer. Made it easier to stack them in the aisle next to the stall door but still labor intensive to put them in the stalls. I am building a new 30'X40'X14' hay barn to store hay. Foundation is in and the crew showed up this morning to start construction of the metal building. Will have 3 12'X12' rollup doors and a 3' walk door. There are 2 ridge vents and 4 skylights. Insulated with metal 8' up on the inside walls.

Plan is to store 360 bales in the hay barn, plus the trailer. Will just move a few bales at a time over to the stables as needed. Here is the foundation, just waiting for metal to go up.

About 2 weeks to complete it. My contractor has a 3-man crew here today. He has another crew finishing up another job. They may or may not come here after that job or go to the next one. He stays pretty busy. This is his third job for me. He built my 30'X40'X12" carport and added 720 square feet to my shop building to create an office for our stained-glass business.

Good start for the first day above the slab. All steel fabrication is being done onsite.

Wow, that thing is built. You don't get much snow down there right, what is the designed wind load estimate?

I don't remember the exact number. We do get the occasional hurricane force wind gusts when one tracks north from the Gulf. It is designed so if I ever need to add on it will take the load.

Could you provide the number of your contractor? I am about to build something similar and it sure is hard to find a competent contractor.
