New Holland 1720 Question?

I have a 1720 with 32XX Hrs It starts and runs very well but smokes more than I'd like it to. Would a valve adjustment help or what would suggest?

Is the smoke black? It could be excess fuel, having the injectors tested would be pretty easy to do.

How long has it been smoking, is this a new symptom?
Is it blue, black or white smoke?
Does it smoke under full power. Some more details will be helpfull.
How long have you owned it?

I have only owned the tractor about 7 months. It has a short blast of black smoke on start up but that is normal. aftre it runs a while its hard to see anything unless you rev it up a little. At nite you can see it with the headlights on. It may be nothing to worry about but it does get a bad exhaust smell. I'll have the injectors checked, it may be too rich.

I've had my 1720 for 15 years & put 1800 hours on it. Your observations sound normal.
Starting would generally be an issue if there were injector or mechanical problems.
Older diesels smoke especially during acceleration & heavy load.
I'd run it.
