Was talking to my brother this morning and he has a problem with his 1725. PTO shaft quit spinning and opened it up to find this.

Bearing spun and cracked the housing. He put it back together and is going to use for pulling only until he can figure something out. He has about 4000 hours on the little tractor so not too bad I guess.

Is the case cracked? If not he could try re-inserting the bearing. I've shimmed various things with metal from a soda can. find the right amount and reinsert. There are also loctite compounds he could try. Please post the final solution. thanks!

No it is definitely cracked and will only get worse if he tries to fix it. He has put it back together and is not planning on replacing the transmission at this time. He has a bigger tractor he uses more often anyway but I think with time he will either fix or replace it. It is just too handy of a little tractor not to have one.
