Nice, like the porch lights.
Good looking porch. Is that where the best view is, or is that on the other side of the house?
Not to hijack the OP's thread, where did you get a big enough crane to pick up your house and turn it around? Pretty good design if the foudation lined up. LOL. JonWhen I built my house, my front porch had the best view. Over time, it became the place to hang out, and eventually I fenced it in and made a backyard out of it for the dogs. We are now flipping the house so the back entrance will be the front door. I got it totally backwards when I built it ten years ago.

Long porches are a staple down here in older homes. I still like them, I like to be on the east side of a home, in the shade, in the evening.

Sorry to hear about the Covid. For me, I just slept through it. Just be careful not to over do it too quickly. I went back to work after 3 weeks of sleeping, and I had to take another week off to recover.
Be prepared for no/low energy for 3-4 weeks. Be glad you all got a mild case of it. I'm thankful y'all are past the worst of it. Now you have immunity for some time. Down here in the heat, you almost can't even open the front door to look outside. When the heat hits you, you almost pass out with zero energy.Just before it hit me, I had prepared part of my yard for seeding. A couple evenings later, just before we were going to get some rain, I thought I felt good enough to sow some grass, 15 minutes in, my energy was in the negatives and I had to get back to the couch. Haven’t bothered to try anything since.
I’m fortunate that I’m being allowed to do my work from home, only taking leave when I have too. They don’t expect to see me back in the office for a couple weeks.

Any updates?
I didn't know anything about having horses, and still don't. What I have learned is that they never stop eating, and you need a dry place to keep all their food. You will never stop buying food for them!!...
Wife and daughter has always wanted a horse, and now we have one. Wife’s uncle gave them a very gentle mare that is very easy to ride. I’m now researching metal buildings to get for a horse barn and planning out some pasture fencing. It’s at a friends house until we get things ready.

The other thing is to build the most expensive fence possible, but everything cheaper will end up costing you more money. I'm currently working on tearing out everything that I've already done over the years and installing 2x4 no climb fence. From everything that I've seen and read, this is the best choice for horses. Since I also have goats, it's a very good fence for them too. So far the hardest part about the fence other then the cost of it, is finding it.
Some horses like to have a stable mate.....same with calves, they do better with 2 or more.
Wish you where closer, I'll give you one, or all four of mine!!!!My wife is already searching for a 2nd horse. We will need another so her and my daughter can ride together anyway.

True, but it would be worth it. I do like having them, I just hate paying to feed them!!!! Fortunately, we are finally starting to work on building our fence. It's early still, but I have my corner posts set and I'm starting to work on getting it all done. Once that's done, I'll have a lot more pasture for them, and my hay usage should decline significantly. And Eddie would end up sleeping in the barn if he gave them away.![]()
