I am strongly considering a F3990 but would love to ask you some questions about your grass catcher. Is it a kubota model and how happy are you with its performance ? I currently have a Scag 61" deck 29 hp Kawasaki with a clam shell bagger and am continually fighting with it leaving a trail of grass between the 2nd and 3rd blade. Have had 2 separate dealers unsuccessfully diagnose what the problem is. I am mowing as slow as possible and having to make 3 or 4 passes to completely pick up the grass. I am ready to upgrade but my dealer can't find anyone in my area with a unit with a grass collection system to talk to and I don't want to be the guinea pig. Any input, advise, and or suggestions are welcome. Thanks Don
USAWS; sorry for taking so long to reply. Yes, my catcher is Kubota, the gray box looking unit. The key for effective clippings pickup is to use high lift blades. They are a must. And no surprise, sharp blades are important. Certainly you cannot travel as fast but I do not leave clippings, the Kubota unit has very good suction and is quite well designed. Occasionally large sticks will clog it and wet grass can be difficult. Overall, I like it, have picked up carloads of debris and the hydraulic dump is very nice.

I am strongly considering a F3990 72" deck with grass collection system but am concerned about how well the collection system works on a deck that large. USAUWS, to further add my last post, I do have a 60" deck. I cannot comment on the grass pickup capability with a 72.

Sorry.

we have a f3990 here at our business, it is nothing but a lemon, they all are because of the regen system for emissions. also there is a reformer on there that is $8000 dollars to replace if it is not under warranty. take a very close look and think twice.
