well -- the more time it spends off the tractor the less likely it will be easy to put on and off.... just saying.

The simple solution is to get a second tractor and leave the hoe on all the time.:)
Other than that, a rotary sanding pad might help to remove the paint and a bit of metal if you can determine where it is binding (top or bottom or perhaps even the sides. If you cant find the wear spot, just take a few thousandths off all the way around but don't get carried away and remove too much so that the pin is sloppy in the hole.

The very first time I had to use a dead blow hammer-hard plastic. The pins were kind of corroded. Couple of hard taps and the came out. I lightly greased the pins and holes, no problem now. The backhoe is not the easiest to get back on. I just laugh at those videos, takes me like 5-10 each time to get it back on. That's why its off 99% of the time.

Seems to get a tiny bit easier each time for me. Now I have a concrete pad I will use to off and onload the FEL and BH...should make a big difference over loose 3/4" stone as a work surface.

I've used steel wool on the pins and mounts sucessfully, Afterwards use a light machine oil to coat the scrubbed surfaces. Rarely do I have to hit anything. Sometimes a strenuous twist is necessary, though.

I don't have one, so this constitutes some guesses. Could be one of the pins or could be one of the holes...are the pins interchangeable? Does that make a difference? If the "difficult side" moves with the pin, I would get a replacement pin ...trying to true it or turn it down on a lathe seems too hard, but maybe buff the pin(s) with jewelers rouge ...and, if you can find the right size "bottle brush" you can rouge the brush and spin it in with a drill to buf the hole. If it were mine, I might even leave some rouge in the hole/on the pin when I operated it...the mildest of abrasive to "seat" it ...

Incidentally, there are slipperier potions than "grease-gun" grease ...maybe check with your local gunsmith/gunshop.

Does it matter which pin you try to pull first ...if it's always the "second" pin, then I'd bet the holes are slightly mis-aligned (with respect to each other) ...

Once you can get a pin out, can you slip it back in easily? Or, alternatively, when you put a pin in, can you immediately slip it out ...If so, you might try marking up the pin(s) with a magic marker, insert and remove and see if there is a point on the pin that seems to be binding.

Just be very careful of foot (and other body part) placement when easing the outriggers, swinging the boom, etc to find the 'sweet spot'. When remounting the BH on my BX24, I had the lower pins jump off the frame dogs, dropping 600# on my foot.

It was 'just a quick job' and I had sneakers on, instead of my usual steel-toed boots. Broke the distal end of three toes, lost three nails, and counted my blessings it wasn't further up the instep, where more damage would occur. You don't realize how much a little twitch of a lever can jack around all that weight in an instant. I was aware of foot placement initially, but shifted when I saw the 'far side' pin align, and leaned over to push it in. My shoulder caught the boom arm lever, and it happened before I knew it.

I have the same, or at least similar, trouble with mine. When I take the weight off of the back wheels with the BH, one pin will just slide right in and out. The other side the pin is super tight.

I've found that I have to let up on the boom and start putting the back of the tractor back down a bit. I have one hand on the lever, the other on the pin. I toggle the lever up and down a hair while trying to twist the pin. There is a spot that suddenly the pin will twist.

I can then twist the pin back and forth while pulling and it will pull on out. It never just slips out like the other side, but does get loose enough that with some twisting/tugging I can do it by hand. I've gotten pretty good at it over time...

I do this SAME procedure!:(

I am not sure grease or oil would be a good I would think that dirt and grime would just love to stick to those surfaces covered with oil or grease.

I do the same thing as the above folks say.

I will add I took them off in my shop once and that was the biggest mistake I ever made. I did not want to leave them out and get rained on for who knows how long. (I have taken a bit of a down turn here that is why no day in the life updates....I can't do anything)

Anyway on that slippy shop floor when trying to mount the things they would just slide away from the tractor. Make sure the surface you put them on has a little bit of "teeth" to it. Not like your basement floor but more like a sidewalk.

Well - I do use the outriggers, sometimes the boom to get the sweetspot but I was always careful. The outriggers should always be out so it doesn't go down on your foot. Using the swing of boom is dangerous and I only use boom to push or lift. As I was saying before -- not wanting to hookup and disconnect without a thought only makes it harder without "practice" . If I need to do digging, Ill hook it up even for a 5-10 mins and Ill disconnect it since I dont need to carry it all the time. It just makes things easier and lets the pins stay smooth and make it easier to slide in and out from use. Thats all I am saying slimshadie.
