MF GC1725M, 231
Hello everyone, I'm the proud owner of a new MF GC1725MB! I really love it so far. I have 37 acres but most of it's woods, so aside from some trail maintenance I mostly work just on a few acres in the front. I've had an older MF 231 for a while but it's too big for most of what I need it for.

This land is about 30 minutes from where I live, it's my little play area where I go camp when I need to get away from town. I'm hoping to start building a small one-room cabin soon.

Anyway I had a couple questions I figured I'd throw out there. First of all, I was a bit surprised when they delivered it to see that the sticker says it's a 2023 model. I just bought it (Oct 2024) & didn't really think these sat around that long. Is there much difference if any, from one year to the next? I figured with tractors it's not like cars where they add new features each year but I didn't think to ask the sales guy.

Second, I'm having a helluva time getting the mid-mount mower on & off (it's the MF2326 60" drive-over). It seems like the front bracket/pins don't really line up right. I had to bang on the pin with a hammer & screwdriver to get it off & when I put it back on, the pins didn't line up & I had to really jostle the whole deck to get that spring-loaded pin to seat itself.

I'm gonna attach a couple pics... the first one is what the front bracket/pin looks like with the rear pins attached (the ones on the lift arms). As you can see the bar doesn't seat all the way in the cradle & the pin is too high. The second pic is a set of adjustment bolts on the front bracket. It looks like if I shorten these, it'll line up better. Is that something I should do myself? Seems like something the dealer should have tested before delivering it but maybe it shifted a bit after I used it.

Thanks in advance, I'm learning a lot already by going through these forums!

this a used deck or a new deck?
are the pins on all 4 axles set in same position?

It's a new drive-over deck from the dealer. If you're referring to the pins on the gauge wheels, then yes they're all set so the deck is at its lowest setting, which is what the manual instructed to do.

I just leave mine at what my mow height is going to be. its the same amount of weight on pins when driving over either way and its a pain in butt to set low, install deck, then pull pins again to set to my mow height..
my front brackets are adjust to what is needed for front/back level and I just leave it on when removing the deck.
wonder if you tweaked the front pin when hammering. with the handle of front arm just laying on ground does the pin slide in and out all the way?
as far as those front bracket adjust nuts, if they are set equal on both sides the bracket lifts the front of the deck up level. from what I can see on pics yours looks real close to what mine is. maybe change axle mounts to what you mow on and see?

Gotcha thanks, tbh I hadn't adjusted the wheels from the lowest setting because I'm mowing rough grass in a field so I just use the cutting height knob to set it & the wheels rarely touch. Yeah the pin works fine when off the tractor, & it had the problem the first time I took it off.

Now that I'm re-reading the manual, it does sound like I need to adjust those until all the pins seat easily (& like you said, so the front is level). Gonna try that next time I mow
