New potential owner should I go there

Hello,
I am looking for a small tractor to handle brush cutting and tilling on a new piece of property in Oregon. I have come across a Mitsubishi MT372. I'm completely new to tractors but managed to do a test drive with it yesterday. While the guy was showing it to me the 3 point lift arms went up but failed to come down. Is this a deal breaker? there are a couple items on the tractor that I couldn't figure out. one is a valve looking apparatus under the seat the other is a lever near where the right foot would be. Thoughts and suggestions would be appreciated.

The lever on the right , by your heel, is the rear diff lock. The twist knob under the seat, is the drop rate control for the 3 point.
As far as the three point going up and not going down, this is correct unless when you push the lower control lever to down, it doesn't go down. It is gravity drop.
I have a MT372D and it is a capable little tractor , of course, it has it's limitations for it's size.
I have used mine for brush hogging and mowing with no issues.
Parts can be a little pricey, depending on what it may need in the future, and where you get parts from. This forum is a great place for good vendors and good advise.Why not go back and run it around some more and try the 3 point lever again and make sure it operates corectly. It may actually need a little weight on it to make it drop.
If this is a 2 wheel drive model (I'm guessing it is), I feel a fair price for one in fair condition would be $1500-$2500 tops.

the reason people go to mitsu is the affordability.they are lots of satisified mitsu owners out there.from what i have read here over time the owners know there way around tractors and try to do most repairs by themselves.i would say before you buy learn about the machine.make some comparison.

It seems that the 3pt works just fine..while the diff lock is frozen. It generally seems like a decent machine and the price is right. Beside putting it on a scale is there a guessestimate on what is weighs?

There are so many options but the people with Misubishis that I do find really like them. Thanks for the info/advice.

Never have heard a Mitsubishi's tractor run but have one of their engines in a Volvo excavator. Have been pleased with it over two years and about 300 hours of used. It had about 500 on it when purchased.

The rear differential pedal lock may not have any problem with it as some tractors those pedals with seem not to move and probably are not until the wheels turn over just enough for the gears to line up. This is a device some in the repair business will tell you to never use but all will tell you to use it carefully as speed and turning can do harm with differential locked.

Diff lock may simply be rust. A little PB Blaster, move it up and down by hand (hammer if needed to break it loose), good to go. Mine did that once too.. Have to use it once in a while

They are great little tractors, I use mine regularly for bush hogging, tilling, towing trailers, tree watering. Put a suspension seat on it and have fun.

Well... I went ahead and did it. The same feeling as when I bought my first car many years ago. I think it is going to be a lot of fun. In between the test drive and picking it up the water pump went out. The guy kicked a few hundred off the price and I took it home anyway. The first project will be tracking down a pump and taking off the christmas tree skirting before getting into the pump. Sweet!

A & T Parts & Rebuilders these guys can rebuild your water pump. i used them before and they did a good job. the tractor looks nice.just send out the pump to them and u get it back in a few days and you will be tilling the garden.
