Have been looking for a new rig, and was hoping to find a suitable 2013 for a good discount. Last year at this time the lots were half full of previous years models. This year, virtually none, and no salesman following me around the lot.

So I drove a new 2014 Sierra 1500 crew with the d.i. 5.3. Beautiful truck, but the throttle response of this new motor is brutal. Reminds me of driving an older diesel.... seriously. Unbelievably quiet though. A little too quiet. I like to hear a little rumble when the go pedal goes down.

Made an offer that I thought was pretty reasonable.... didn't even get a counter offer from them, and no follow up call.

Any similar experiences?

Yes. Have you tried other brands?

Simple answer is since cash for clunkers sales have been flat. Last month and the month before were great. Lots are empty so they dont need to deal.

Come to SC and I'll take you by the Ford and Toyota place. Local Ford dealer is selling xlt crew cab ecoboosts at $11,000 off sticker. No questions asked and he had many to choose from. Toyota dealer had the 2013 Tubdra's at 9,000 off but only had around 4 or 5 last time I looked. I swear if I was buying a new truck right now I'd haul my butt to the Ford place and buy me an ecoboost so fast my head would spin.

Good friend is a salesman at a GM dealership and he said wait til after January to buy a 2014 because they'll start pushing them then. Only $1000 off right now.

i dont put much stock in that. only one other industry is more adept at playing the "mark it up to mark it down", the department stores.

Congrats I think you will really like your new truck. I have had very good service out of the rams I have so far.
