Hello all. I just bought a used M5400 w/FEL & R blade and have some very basic (silly) questions /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif. I've read many posts. The seller forgot the owners manual so I can't refer to that till it arrives in the mail, I'll read it thoroughly. I understand the machine pretty well except for these items.

1. A 6ft Gill rear blade is attached. Using the position adjuster, it raises about 1 ft. Am I able to increase the range of motion for more clearance when lifted? With the top link adjuster?

2. Forgot what one lever does. It extends upward from the seat platform down by my right foot when seated.

With these questions answered, I'm ready to SLOWLY start dome work as I learn. Thanks!

Good tractor choice, you will be happy with the performance of that model. You can get a little more height by shortening the top link, but the main thing that will do is change the attitude of the box blade from front to back when it is on the ground working. The lever by your right foot should operate the remote valve. Hope this helps.

Thanks equipman. I thought that lever might be the remotes. It's a rear plow blade so the attitude of it shouldn't be as sensitive as some attachments...I guess. The seller said that other implements raise higher than that blade (???).

**One more question please about the draft control. Under what conditions should I be able to move that lever. It has a lot of resistance, no matter the situation**

I some kind of need that darn manual! Looks like I'll log some hours Saturday (or I could quit my job & start today /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif).

The draft control is for plowing soil or if you're keen, controling a backblade or boxblade. It basically pulls the implement up when it senses load on (usually) the top link. This is so you don't stop the tractor dead in its tracks. The response lever adjust how fast it pulls the plow up when it senses resistance. Takes a while to master. Most people just take lighter cuts.

Hi Newbie- I have a M-5400 and have used it 4 years. It's the 3 rd Kubota and I love it. I could zerox parts of my manual if you have trouble getting one. I have used about every part of the tractor with blades, york rakes, a Farmi winch, a Valby chipper and a Majaco loader and trailer. I had to install the rear hydrolic hoses because they didn't come with them originally. They run the hydrolic chipper feed and the loader arms. It's a great tractor with no problems after 500 hours. Not a lot, but enough. Any help I can offer I will do my best. Kenta

Go to any Kubota dealer and you should be able to get the Operator's manual. Even my dealer (very small town) has them for many Kubota models.

Well worth the few $$.

If you have a FEL there is a separate Operator's Manual for it but it really doesn't have much in it although it will tell you how disconnect and reconnect the loader. You will need to know your loader model number if you get that manual.
