does anyone else think NH has terrible electrics? I have always said fiat would protect a 10 cent fuse with a 500 dollar wiring harness. I had to replace the dash panel because it is plastic and after all 7 years is a long time. It was disintergrating. So I check fuses and they are all corroded and have deposits. While everything is apart (yes battery is disconnected) I decide to clean fuse holders and replace all the corroded fuses..I found one of the tabs on the fuse holder burned away and the thing was warped. Of course the fuse is in great shape!
If you have to replace your dash panel go ahead and buy the light and hazard switches and blank plates too cause they will fall apart when you try and remove them from the old panel

I have found the wiring on my TN is no worse or better then any of the other tractors or trucks I have around here. Having said that the only issue I have ever had with the wiring on the TN is that one of the wires was pinched during assembly and it affected the rear electrical/trailer plugs. Was all covered under warranty. Other then that I have not had any issues. Sorry to hear about your problems though and hopefully you can get them fixed.

Funny you posted this today; I have a 1999 TC29 and was going over all items since it was in the garage and I usally go over all items once a year. I topulled all fuses and noticed corrosion and the lighting fuse was warped and corroded. Got hot , but not hot enough to blow fuse. To me this is a fuse manufactor problem, not New Hollands problem. Removed my instrument panel to clean etc. it is in good shape, also removed all switches and they were ok also.

in my case the fuse was fine. the wiring that the fuse plug into was burned up. THAT is NH problem. They use the smallest gauge wire they can to save a penny. and the switches...... kludge

Hmm.. I think ya just had some bad luck. The plastic dash on my ford 5000 ( 1975 - 31ys old...) is holding up fine... shows weathering.. but otherwise works. It did have a bad fuse in it when i got it.. i replced it and it has been fine for the least year.

I usually put a dab of dielectric grease or vasolene on my fuses when i insert them.

I wasn't wildly excited about the wireing scheme on my NH 7610s.. but it is not under rated.. just hard to get to...

dielectric grease is the key. If you read though the service info for these things you'll find loads of stuff that the average person never does.

Yep.. darned things like directions and user manuals... Most users never -use- them... That's why common sense is entirely uncommon these days..

For those people with fuzzy battery terminals: (.. 2 cents worth of chassie grease will help too.. but then.. if you guys aren't using dielectric grease on temp electrical contacts.. why use it on a battery too! )

The plastic dash panel was so brittle that the portions that weren't broken crumbled when I removed the screws to take it out. The corner, and hazard light switches have tabs to depress so you can remove them from the dash. When I depressed them (fingers only) they snapped, rendering them useless.
Messicks is shipping the replacements this week.

I WILL use dielectric grease on all my connections even though New Holland didn't see the need.

I will check and see what it will take to replace the contacts in the fuse block. If it is too expensive I may go to an after market quality set up. even though it is a 2000 model I have fewer than 450 hours on it. Less than 40 hours the hour meter died. Dealer handed me a new one and I installed it. Less than 100 hours the high pressure line banjo under the seat deck cracked. The dealer pulled one off a new tractor for me. turn signals and hazard lights just stopped working. I am going to look into that but think the switches are bad. I guess I am going to have to cover the dash with a tarp to keep it from deteriorating. I wonder what a John Deer would have been like.....

Um. The "service info" (manual?) for my new (soon!) tractor is 2000+ pages long. I hope you learn something in all of that!

It looks like these machines need to be stored inside or at least under cover.
