Greetings. I've got a 2000 TC-29D with a ever more frequent tach squeal that causes erratic RPM to the gauge. I think it just needs lubrication. Anyone see this problem before and know where the gear is at so I can get to it?
You may very well have a cable-driven tach/hourmeter.
Disconnect the cable from the back of the gauge and lube,or replace the cable as needed.
Good Luck!
The entire cluster is electronic, with tach driven by sensing alternator rpm. See if tightening the belt doesn't fix both issues. The gauge can lag or flutter if it's loose, wet, or glazed.
