HAVE A B2400 is it necessary for me to make a 50 mile round trip to a dealer to get a oil filter. does NAPA. AUTO ZONE , OR SUCH CARRY A FILTER THAT WILL FIT?

You can buy online from some of the folks who advertize here at TractorByNet...buy two, they're small...and have one available for the next change, too. I suspect you need to use the "right" filter for your tractor, so buying one from a Kubota dealer, even online, is probably going to be much easier in the long run.

Your local auto store should carry an appropriate oil filter. You may have to initially go to a more "rural" store that has listings for tractors to get a cross-reference number, but once you have that there should be no problem. I get mine from CTC under their own brand name, but they are made Fram.

I purchased a Kubota filter from my dealer, it was marked "made in USA". It looked like a Fram and had similar part numbers. I was a little disapointed, there are better filters available than Fram. I believe I read on another post that NAPA filters can be ordered for Kobotas. NAPA filters are made by WIX and have a very good reputation.

Frank,
Try wixfilters.com
They make filters for Napa, just take off the first # and you have the Napa #.
B 2400 oil filter
wix #51064
napa #1064
My Kioti dealer is 80 miles away so I just go to Napa,2 miles away for most of my filters.

Vince,

Wix and Napa filters are probably manufactured in the same plant but there are small differences between them. I have been using the Napa 1515 on my M5030SUMDT. Compare the Wix 51515 and the Napa 1515 at this web site http://www.netwiz.net/~sgc/rx7/oil_filter_study. This info is about the most detailed I have found on oil filters. The only problem is, it doesn't cover all the different manufacturers and models. It looks like the Wix is just a little bit better than the Napa and a dollar more.

Frank - I checked at Carquest yesterday and their book lists a 85064 filter for all B and F series Kubotas. This cross references to a Fram PH3593A.

Last year the price of a kubota oil filter for my b7100 went fro m $12 to $8 dollars. When I asked why I was told that they had got a real deal on a bunch of filters. Maybe the contract for making the old ones was up and the new low bidder was cheaper. So maybe I'm now using fram without knowing it.

I just bought some wix filters locally (for an explorer, ram, and kubota) and the dealer was mentioning how all the filters were threaded the same, openings in the same spot and the only difference was the size so they could fit in the right places. I looked at my tractor and the filter sticks out the side so size is not an issue. Can anyone think of a downside to using a larger filter as long as the threads/gasket are equal? Seems like you'd get more filter material and a little more oil in the system.

I beleive there may be a pressure activated bypass in some filters that may be engine design dependant.
