The ice was an expression meaning just because you got away with it does not mean the next guy will. Sorry it went over your head.

Look, I'm tired of explaining what a group of words means to couple of people who do not understand and refuse to open their minds.

Bottom line is that there exists a merchant agreement that the dealer signed, and I linked a copy of it or a substantially similar version in my earlier post.

If there is a loophole that would be awesome, I hope Mr Smith can find it, because I have the same opinion of the tractor's owner as everyone else in the thread.
If there is not a loophole I just want him to be aware of it because he seems like a really stand up guy and I would want my neighbor or friend to warn me if I was about to do something that could cause a problem.

If you can show me where I have stated a factual error or where the merchant agreement allows the dealer to refuse to accept a valid card for payment I have an open mind, otherwise let us just agree to disagree.

Fair enough? :)

Well, I'm glad we agree on one thing--that the tractor dealer deserves the best. As for the rest of your comments, they all revolve around your seriously closed mind and contemptable attitude towards the thoughts of others on this forum. You're too hung up on technique and lacking in innovation. As for the ice thing--no b_lls, no blue chips.

And now, back to our regular programming.

That's got my vote.

I'm hoping for a conclusion to this "rusty clutch sydrome" thread in the next day or so and in all seriousness am picking up some popcorn later today to brace for the approaching midwest storm. Looks like ice for us and the popcorn is unflavored in a microwave bag. Haven't had popcorn in eons and I figure to flit away the storm on this site with the best part on this thread.

Clutch thing is great story. Has drama, intrigue, skullduggery and gamesmanship overlayed on the intrigue of day-to-day life in the 21st century.

It seems like the dealer (and MF) have gone above and beyond in this situation. Even though there doesn't appear to be any penalty for not doing so, I think he should accept the credit card payment (if the guy has a card that the dealer accepts, currently the customer is trying to use one that he doesn't) but he should not do it over the phone. It looks like the customer is setting it up so he can dispute the charge, if the dealer does not have the customer's signature, it could lead to a he said/he said situation.

Can't wait to hear how this turns out.

I know it is Sunday- but any updates from the dealer? The beer is mighty cold and I want to pop some pop corn soon

Refuse the card- it's always easier getting forgiveness (from credit card company) than it is to get permission.

Exactly, If a cc is taken the dealer is wide open to the hassle and expense of recovering his money if the customer contests it. Don't give the customer this avenue in the first place.

Sorry guys haven't been on much this weekend I ve been spending time with the family, it was my weekend off. As far as the cc goes I do have to accept it unless the customer states he's signing under protest or hints around like he would contest the charges in which case has happened here. By him doing that I don't hace to accept his cc and my cc company has stated this was legal and he would have no grounds to stand on. Im just ready to get it over with and again thanks to all that have posted and thanks for all the great comments y'all have sent my way.
