Older B&S engine running irratically

Well, crap. For some reason I had it in my head that this was a B&S engine. Went out tonight to get the serial number off of it and the carb number and realized that it's actually a Tecumseh.

Doesn't matter - problem is still most likely the carb. If you boil out the carb with carb cleaner, remove the plastic parts. I think this carb has a removable rubber float seat that will swell in carb cleaner. (I'm thinking back 40 years to my lawn mower mechanic days)

I found a place online last night that has good diagrams and a bazillion parts for Tecumseh engines. Using the engine model number and a bit of detective work, I found what appears to be the same carb I have on this engine (out of the 100's of carbs listed). Looking at the exploded view, I can see that my carb is missing an o-ring that seals around the idle mixture adjusment screw. I've located a carb rebuild kit and new intake and carb gaskets. I need to get them ordered up and just go through the carb.
