I have been hesitant to post this question because it may not come to be. But I have found a JD 5510 with Cab, MFWD, and 540 loader. Tractor has about 2000 hrs, 3 rear scv's. What are your opinions of this tractor? I really won't need the loader, but that will come with it. Is this 4 cyl, turbo?

The price is approx. $25k. I need to sell my truck before I can buy it, but I was wondering if I should even consider it. What's your opinions?

Thanks.

Looking online at tractors for sale, prices on a comparable unit run $25-32,000. 4 cyl. turbo, 75 PTO HP.

What are you going to use it for?

Mostly mowing. I am always finding things around the house to do. I may pull a small pan, use it for road maintenance, and whatever else I find. But mostly mowing.

For that kind of money I would wait to find a 20 series CAB tractor. The 10 series CABS are nowhere near as nice as the 20 series and you should be able to buy a 20 series in that price range...might have to wait a little longer for the deal to come around but we get several in a year well below the 30K figure that are nice tractors. Good luck!

Thanks! I was unaware of the cab differences.

Gotta agree that I would look for a 20 series machine at that price, if for no other reason than the future trade-in value. I have never seen a 10 series or a 20 series cab tractor so I can not comment on the comparison.

The 55XX will certainly do the job.

I am glad you guys chimed in about the cabs. I've never seen inside the 10 series, but I did look up a comparison on the 10's and 25's. The interior db's were just as low or lower on the 10's. Other than that, I know nothing else about them.

Thanks again.

All the controls are different...the 10 series CABs are basically a cab set onto an open station tractor, i.e there is still a hump in the middle and the materials used aren't super nice. The 20 series has a flat floor, the controls come out from the consol not the floor, materials are much nicer...like I said if you are willing to spend close to 30K you would be much happier with a 20 series cab.
