i'm ordering 3720 monday, what options do you folks recommend, this will be my 1st tractor, plan on getting 6 to 8 foot rough cut deck since use will be 95% mowing 30 acres of flat fields, might do little garden with pto tiller, can not decide to get cab with heat and air, or decide on loader, i thought might check into rear scoop, and sycle bar-for 1 mile of creek bank mowing and maybe mid mount mower for 3 acres of yard mowing and what price will be in line thanks for the help

Buy the loader for sure and a backhoe if you can afford it. Once you use either one you will not know how you ever got by without them. You may also want to buy the unit with R1 tires rather than R4s. There are advantages to each design, but if you are not doing lawn work and are doing ground engagement R1s are better suited. I have R4s on my 3320 and run out of traction at times long before HP. Your 3720 has a good deal more power on basically the same frame size, so put it to use.

Consider the following:

Mid PTO
3 RD SCV
Power Beyond
Hard line kit for FEL
4 button Auto Cruise Control

Some JD add-ons are "sales department" items and are best added at the time of sale, usually for less $$. Other items are "parts department" and can be added later without too much hassle. Some of the "sales" items include a number of items and can be difficult and / or expensive to acquire through the parts department, especially if needed after the tractor model is no longer current.

If you got 30 acres to mow, then I would consider a larger tractor, so you could put a larger mower on it. You are going to be sitting on that thing a lot of hours with a 6 ft cutter on there.
Sounds like you have a place for some cows, or grow some hay and sell it. Hate to just waste that grass.

That said what the others suggested is right on. If you ever think you might want to put a belly mower on it, then get the center pto. At least one set of hydralic hook ups in the back, and of course mid mount hook ups with joystick for the loader.

I think with that much land to mow, I would look at a 12 to 15ft mower, and a 5000 series, or larger 4000 series.

The 8' bush hog mower is too much mower for a 3720 - IMO. How badly do you want/need a cab/AC or "rear scoop"? The $$$ for a fully tricked out 3720 cab, mid-pto, FEL, backhoe will get you into a 5000 series tractor, too.

And those 30 acres will be a whole lot more managable with a 5000 series machine than the 3720.

If you've had the chance to use the "Build it yourself" option on the JD website; you can get a ballpark cost for either the 3720 - 4000 series - 5000 series tractors. As well as the various attachments that you are considering, too. Final purchase costs are generally 15%-20% below the MSRP from the web site.

Best of luck.

I think it depends on the dealer...ALL option kits and such are handled thru the parts dept at my dealer. No costs savings for me...
If your not wanting to do the install yourself, then I'd totally agree...get them at the time of sale....its pretty easy to at least bargain for you pay the options, they install "free of charge"..

About the only thing I'd suggest is by all means, get the cab....you can always buy a hoe and other attachments down the road....

I gotta agree with AKFish here...If I were in your shoes needing to maintain 30 acres I'd buy a cabbed 5000 series and only the rough mower for now...like I just mentioned...if your not in a hurry you can score great deals on implements by searching the local classifieds and craigslist.

I manage 18 acres with my 3720. I have to say that 16 of them are only cut once or twice a year. 2 acres is garden. The 673 tiller is max for a 3720. I have an MX5 rotary cutter and that is max IMHO. A light duty 6 footer would be OK but not the MX6.

I also have other tractors to use, but I like the cab on the 3720, so I tend to use it more, even if I sit in it longer. None of the other tractors on our farm have that nice of cab. No others are that new either.

I also agree that what you pay for a cabbed 3720, or even the OS 3720, can get you into a 5000 series that might be more suited to taking care of all your tasks. I use the 5203 for all my ground engaging work and planting. The 3720 is just not heavy enough, or wide enough, and lacks the power to pull heavy equipment.

On the loader, all I can say is get the 300CX. You'll thank your self later when the extra lift capacity comes into play. If you overwork the smaller loader cylinders, they'll most likely blow a seal and start leaking.

Just see it for your self. Look at the size of the bucket and frame cylinders on the loaders at the dealer. 300, 300x, and 300cx. You'll be able to tell when you see them.

If it were me and I was on a budget, I would save money on the cab and get a larger frame open station tractor for the same money. 4520 or 5075e could be possible options for you.
