I just received a warning of excessive - record setting - heat for all of the PNW. Check your local forecast and be prepared. It is expected to begin this coming weekend and last thru the middle of the coming week.

Water up and watch your elderly neighbors.

I’m in SW Oregon, NOAA weather is predicting 110 on Saturday. Holy cow, it’s only June! We are very worried about the forest fire situation. It’s been a very dry spring, and there are still spot fires flaring up from last years fires.

I'm not quite sure what to make of that statement. o_O

They were never put out?

Fires can go underground in the proper soil conditions ( muskeg or such like ) and keep smouldering for years.
Yep. We've got peat areas that have done that in drought years. Fire starts here, seems to be out, pops up a couple weeks later 1/4 mile away. Fortunately, we're not that dry yet. And it looks like we'll be getting rain for the next 5-6 days.

Yeah, this is some BS! I'm ready to move north. Ya'll in the South can have the heat. I like cool and cold! 🥶

Spent most of my professional career on Ohio's North Coast. I lived in the snow belt east of Cleveland. I hated the snow and ice but the money was good. :giggle:

The heat down here gets to me a little more now days but I just retire to the air conditioning. Nothing so pressing now that can't wait until the next cool morning or evening. Retirement life is good.

The forcast here is the hottest june, early July that I’ve seen here since I moved here in 1993. It’s real scary dry also. Hardly a drop of rain for months.

We have been vacationing on the Oregon Coast. 68 degree high today. Next week we are going back home to Eastern Washington, the weather channels says 108 degrees on Tuesday! Unheard of! Maybe we should just stay here.

Forest fires rarely get "put out." They go out by themselves when the winter rains arrive. Last winter was a dry one. I'm only aware of one fossil fire that has flared up, within the burned area of the Archie Creek fire last summer.

We knew this drought was coming weeks ago. I was out limbing trees and reducing fuel around the house and shop all spring. I haven't cleaned the gutters yet, but that will get done soon. The duff in the bottom of the gutter is why so many houses burn in wildfires. A single ember can kindle it, where it sets the eave on fire.

We are dry here but back to normal temps for now. I really feel for those in severe drought, super hot, and flooded areas. I can understand how weather extremes can get people a bit crazy....it would me. Wish everyone the best.

I'm hoping MT won't get past 90's, that's 20 degrees past my redline anyway.

What's really strange is the north/south split in the middle of the US. East of there has generally been below normal temps and above normal rain.

I hope that my weather bug is wrong; no one else is painting temps like this for Sunday.
