Allen, not to sould like a jerk but that trailer looks lightly built. It's all to easy to overload a dump trailer and I think with the construction of you trailer you may have issues. Just my 2 cents best of luck

Matt, I take no offense to your remark. This trailer is as heavily built as any of the couple of dozen other brand dump trailers I looked at...
PJ, Big Tex, Bir-Mar, Performance etc etc. They all had different means to the same ends, and I'm not sure if I said what I meant to say. :)
As far as over loading, this trailer will be easier than most because it IS 16 foot long and 83 inches wide. The sheer volume of material it can physically hold, depending on what you put in it, is way more than the trailer can safely carry, forget about dumping it. And I guarantee you, I will overload it at some point in time.
Most other manufacturers only make this type trailer, (single tire, tandem axle) up to 14 foot and I needed 16. I didn't want and couldn't afford a tandem dual so I paid my money, got my trailer and I'm happy.

I don't think you're a jerk.
Now let's go outside and play in the dirt. :)

ps,
I've already hauled and dumped two HUGE loads of busted up concrete. It scratched up my bed. :(

I really like that the fenders are built to the side of the dump. My brother's Big Tex has the fenders built to the frame, so they create a void between them and the dump bed. All kinds of crap falls in there and causes the bed to settle back down on the debris. Nice trailer.

Can you be more specific? What exactly are you looking at? I looked at the trailer and it looks ok to me but I'm no expert. I'm looking for a similar trailer and would like to be better educated so I can make a more informed decision.

The steel framing is what's light. The channel is 8" to 10" on my PJ 7x12 dumper. This trailer is so large that there's going to be alot of twist on the frame when the box starts going up. There doesn't look to be enough reinforcement in the frame. That's why these trailers aren't common in the single axle arrangments. Because to buid it large enough and heavy enough needs tandem duals.

Just so you know, each frame member is doubled 6 inch channel 3/8th inch thick.. effectively making it about a 5 1/2 x 6 rectangular tubing. It's actually pretty stout and lets the trailer be 2 inches lower than 8 inch material.

I'll admit, it "looks" light but it's not really. JMO

I wish tho' that it had the next heavier scissor lift Mine has the PH516 I wish it had the PH630.

Also note the specs on the PJ dump.
6 inch main frame

http://www.pjtrailers.com/detail.cfm?ID=D7

The specs on my trailer
Double 6 inch main frame
http://www.maxeytrailers.com/dumps.htm

Looks like mine has double the steel in the main frame as the PJ.

Not getting defensive here, just stating fact that I discovered when I was shopping for a trailer

I'm sorry. I'm not fit for polite society. So, let me ask you; what does a trailer like that cost?

LMAO!!

My first quote was $8299.00 and that was supposedly with 10% off.
Another trailer place quoted me $7800.00
I bought it from the 2nd place for $7400.00
No taxes because I use it on the farm.

Lots of silly stuff going on with the dealer. email me if your interested and I'll tell you the tale but I don't want to put it online. Suffice to say that the dealer has been great to me as has the manufacturer.

Well Crap, I guess I have to sell it then. Come get it Paul.
;)

And as Paul pulls into your driveway, I'll be waving goodby to him as I'm pulling out with the trailer, cause the way my map reads is that I can get there faster than he can. Ha!!

Thanks for that info. I'm e-mailing back and forth with the factory right now. My closest dealer is in alberquerque!! (I'm near Lake Tahoe, California)

FWIW, I've bought other things like this from Texas. I bought a boat from El Paso. I met the dealer in front of the airport terminal and he drove me to the U-haul rental store. I rented a truck, hooked up my new boat and drove it home in under 20 hours. Air fare to El Paso from Sacramento was $49, the truck rental one-way was $400 and the fuel was $150 for a total of just under $600. I saved about $10,000 on the boat and got the motor I wanted but that isn't legal to sell in California due to smog laws. I feel sorry for local boat dealers with the California laws the way they are.

****EDIT****
Also, I couldn't really tell and the desription from the Maxie site doesn't even show a dump gooseneck; Does yours have the deck-on-neck?

Dealer e-mailed me a price back after I sent him your photos to show him what I wanted. He said it would be $7,745 from the factory, so I guess you got a good price for it!!

No deck but I wouldn't suppose that it would be too hard to put one if you wanted.
My spare is laying up there. Lying?? lieing?
Anyway...
The Maxie web site leaves a lot to be desired and when I traded trailers I mentioned that fact. There is a sharp fella there named Isaak that has only been there a few months but one of his goals is to update and improve their website.
Although there is no picture of a gooseneck, it is listed as available in their options.

Ps
I think the price you were quoted is pretty fair. Like I said, my dealer is really treating me good.
Note that the original quote was 7800. about the same as yours. I just negotiated a bit for the extra 400.

Funny,
I bought my boat in CA and drove to Anaheim to get it. :)

edit
wonder if I get a commission on this sale for the use of my pictures? :D

If the tipping cylinder was situated somewhere between axles and 5th wheel, i would worry about the frame. But it sits on top of the axles, so tipping it doesnt put much extra strain on the frame. The dump body is self carrying, so all the frame does is holding it together, and transferring the weight to the 5th wheel hookup. The pointloads are taken by the dumpbody, which sure is beefy enough. I used to engineer trailers, but i'm not too worried about this creation..
