Not good pictures.
Not being sure the idea would work, I used what I had available.
A section of bed frame.
Bolted to the cutting edge of a 5' ATV plow I have on my tractor.

After seeing how GOOD this worked, I tried attaching some 3" to my york rake and it also works GREAT.

Yes, your drive sounds like it would benefit from the angle iron.
This does NOT scrape down to bare earth, it slides over the ground without digging in.
Later in the season when the ground freezes, you can take it off to get a better job if you want.

Thanks for the pics and the feedback. Looks like a great idea and easy to implement.

Hey, it is very simple.
On unfrozen ground you simply need wider longer skids (shoes) if U don't want to dig in and collect that costly gravel.
The mushroom style plow skids are really only good for ideal situations (like frozen driveway bases or paved drives), and not early gravel drives on soft bases.
The unfortunate thing is the plow makers only address the ideal driveway base.

Thats where a chunk of angle iron comes in.
Nice wide base for your plow to sit on.

In front of my CK2610HST is a 450' driveway going downhill at 19%. Behind it is a 7' wide Everything Attachments 6-way Scrape blade. Those are OFA-8 chains on the loaded rear tires. View attachment 631113

Nice Chains... You dont bounce much and you get better forward motion without slipping sideways.

So true. Between my rough driveway and the fact that tractor is don't have a Mercedes like suspension, I barely notice a difference when the chains are on. And although my driveway goes downhill, it's also on an embankment, which means a sideways flip would surely result in a roll. I love these OFA-8 chains.

I like the way those OFA-8 chains look, where did you get them? Doing a quick web search didn't turn up anything.

I know of two places - Reed's Supply, St Johnsbury, VT They have a web sight if you google. Email them for a quote. They ship.
Windy Ridge Co, Tamworth, NH

I got mine at Reed's - EKO 9's on the rear and EKO 8's on front
