I'm looking to put a plow on my ATV (cat 700). I plan on moving some dirt and possibly gravel. Any suggestions? Thanks

those Atv plows were designed for snow not dirt.they do a great job with snow but I found not very good for dirt work. You don't have enough weight to do much.

I got a Warn plow from a catalog store about 9 or 10 years ago; glad I did.

As mentioned earlier, they float so you wouldn't be able to gouge. I had to weld angle iron to the frame as it was curling up like an old pair of cowboy boots. I would buy it again.

I leave it on most of the time. "not at tractor, or a shovel", everything has its limitations, the lever assembly offered is too low so I lift/lower mine with a winch.

I welded 2" pieces of rebar onto the original sacrafcial strip for moving brush.

Pictured here with a concrete block added.

I do realize I won't be able to move a lot of dirt. What my plans are is for the trails in my woods which I just bought. Most of the trails are rutted up bad. I currently use my disk (behind the ATV) to loosen the ground and then take the drag and move the dirt around. This works but moving the dirt with the drag takes a long time. I figured once I disk it up the plow will be able to move it where I want.

I don't think it'll work as well as you want. Like others have said your atv is not that heavy and plows built for them are built with weight in mind. I had an old 3 wheeler with a plow and when it came to dirt or sand it was useless. Even plowing snow took it's toll. I had to rebuild the swivel joint on it several times before welding it at a fixed angle. It finally rusted out. I think on a 4 wheeler it would have worked well for snow but just not sure if it would do much to dirt, even loose dirt.

I used a plow (52" on a 2001 polaris sportsman 400) for pushing and leveling dirt when we first built our house in 2003. It worked ok, but I didn't have any other options besides a rake and shovel. Some people might disagree, but for plowing dirt I tightened the bolts on the plow so it wouldn't trip the springs. We plowed snow in Northern Wisconsin for 20 years at our cabin like that. You can get a downforce kit for ATV plows, not sure how well that would work in dirt for what it costs. I have a 66" poly cycle country plow now that I use for snow plowing, still haven't been able to justify the cost of a blower for my Kubota BX.
