I didn't not loose much ballast at all. I was only a few yards from my trailer where it happened so the loss was minimal. I was able to get the tractor loaded up and home at least without the tire going completely flat. Pretty lucky I suppose. I picked up a tire plug kit to try tomorrow. I figure at worst case, if the plug kit doesn't seal it up and hold air, the plug kit should at least hold the rim guard in until I can get the tire to a shop to have it properly repaired. It's been raining all day so I really didn't want to try Messing with it until it's dry. Luckily I was able to get the tire rotated so the puncture was at the top. Didn't break the bead or anything, just lost the air and it sprayed a bit of rim guard for a bit but not much.

Well I found the hole, wasn't as bad as I though. Took three plugs to fill it but at least it's holding fuid and air pressure for now. Letting it cure over night before I start back in on my ditching project tomorrow. Gonna see how the plug holds up for now but I have a feeling I'll be taking the tire over to the dealer to have an internal patch put in just for peace of mind.

If it were mine, I'd probably take it to the tire shop and get it fixed at the first opportunity. With my luck, it would let go at the worst time and a mile or two from the shop.

I've been putting the tractor through its paces the last two days digging fill and gravel along the side of my road and so far the plugs have been holding up great.

Sounds like you have a fix. My plugs lasted another 100 or so hours until I traded the tractor in for a new one.

I once used three plugs to seal a car tire, held until new tires were purchased, at least a year.

Put the spare on, but don't drive over 45mph as those "donuts" aren't meant for high speeds!

But... nothing like being right in the middle of something and then having something like this happen. Sucks. I remember having a truck rental all set up to haul tons of crap off my property and I was popping some tires off rims (breaking down the beads) with my loader and my wife hollers out that there was a leak. Blew a loader arm cylinder! This was a few days before I was booked for the truck. Thankfully (or not?) Kubota was able to get me a new cylinder (this is the reason for my "not"- it was over $700!; I really had little choice). Got that resolved and was picking up some loose ends for the haul-out and I start getting this odd feeling in the steering wheel. Flat tire! Fortunately, for me, it was a front and I was able to pack it in to town and get it fixed.

Stabbed a front & rear (loaded) tires on a job. Took the font in to Les Schwabs & they plugged it for free. Thought they were going to patch it, but hard to argue with free. I then found the small leak on the rear oozing a tiny bit of bio ballast. Ordered a good plugging kit & moved the hole to the top. Plugged the tire when the kit arrived. Both are holding well still a month or 2 & a dozen hours on the clock later. No plans to do anything further unless things start leaking. I'd probaby plug again, then try something else if that failed.

Its not like you are going to be in a high speed crash due to a flat. Just keep an eye on tire pressure.
