Recently purchased a down pressure kit to fit my PHD. Both Frontier products from Deere. The installation of the HDP is straight forward except for the return line to the hydraulic tank. Naturally there was no instructions included. The dealer (Washington Tractor) hasn't yet been helpful with instructions or how or where to connect this line.

I have a JD 4520 Compact.

I have identified a plug on the upper portion of transmission that appears that I could remove the plug and tap into the reserve there. That is just a thought.

Any ideas?

That should be the right spot. That is where my 4th and 5th SCV tank port goes on my 2012 4720, and the power beyond tank port. Here is a parts breakdown of the power beyond. You can see the main parts 23, 7, 14, 15 plus the misc. o-rings. That would get you the quick connect, and all.

Thanks for this recommendation. If you could post a close up picture, that would be most helpful to me.

Ask and you shall receive. From 2 different angles.

I found the parts today to make the connection. Should have it running this weekend. Thanks again for the tips.

Related question; I installed the down pressure kit (it is a single acting cylinder) and connected the pressure line to the 3rd SCV and return line to the tank. When I enact the SCV lever it supplies the pressure to expand the cylinder. How does it retract? This seems kind of a silly question but the logic of double acting cylinders are much more straight forward than single acting cylinders.

You raise the hitch, it collapses the cylinder forcing the fluid out and to the return line.

UPDATE: I installed the down pressure kit. It installed reasonably easy other than I had to go to the hydraulic store to get several fittings to complete the installation. It doesn't work properly. The hydraulic extends fine but does not contract. I have trouble shot it and determined that the only way to relieve the pressure in order to contract the cylinder is to remove the pressure reducer. It doesn't make sense. Any thoughts on what I might be doing wrong?
